Managing our juniors

We have a great crop of junior backs in Ramsay, Sullivan, Sailor, Saab, Lomax, and others. If building our squad around all of these guys being a part of it I think we should recruit as such. Sailor, Saab and Lomax are all ready and will play next year. Sullivan will be ready to go when Hunt or Norman’s contract expires. So my backs would look like this
1. Sailor or experienced veteran that is in the mould of Ramsay to mentor him that has 3 years left in them. If Sailor is chosen he will fill the role until Ramsay is ready at which point he moves into the halves with Sullivan.
2. Probably need to throw the check book and get a gun.
3.Need to purchase, I’m thinking Curtis Scott.
4.Lomax
5.Saab
6.Norman eventually hand the torch to Sailor
7. Hunt hand the torch to Sullivan

Thoughts on which way you think we should go. It is important as if we buy a player with 7-8 years left it blocks the pathways and we will lose potential guns.

As long as we have McWrecker, IMO it just doesnt matter which way we go .Under this coach it is getting to the stage where i just don't care & Ive been a avid supporter for over 50 years. This incompetent, selfish P**ck has worn me down, pretty much had enough

It still matters because he will be gone in a year max, but the recruitment decisions made now will shape the next 10 years. Look at it this way, next year is a win win for us. If we win the GF excellent we win the GF, if we don’t we have a new coach.

There are a number of reasons why we are not mentioned in the media about being linked to any signing or making a play for any of the big names up for grabs. The latest one is Arrow. Six clubs are supposedly after him, we are not. According to Matty Johns, 10 clubs inquired about Fifita, we did not. Unless we have a total fire sale we will not be signing any ‘guns’. Curtis Scott is possible, but a real big name? Nope. The cost of JDB’s night out will continue to haunt us going into 2020. A slice of our cap sits parked in limbo. But even if it wasn’t, would Saints attract players at the moment? At least from a fan’s perspective our club seems a shambles. A coach who offers only a 46% win percentage despite having several Origin players would not build confidence in any player thinking of joining us and the fact that Mary has overseen season after season where the team fades in the second half of the season and yet NOTHING changes would deter most players from coming to the RedV.

The juniors are our future together with a mix of seasoned players. We don’t have a sound policy of transitioning through to first grade.
McIdiot does not give the juniors a run in first grade and to see how Lomax is being handled shows how out of touch he really is. Lomax should be one of our first grade centers for every game.
Our forwards are another example where we hardly see them even being given a chance, in that I mean Timms Blacker and Kerr.
Those players will leave if the can knowing that McIdiot will be here next season
He needs to be sacked now so we can try and repair the mess we are in now

Just watched the Chooks and Panthers game. Panthers have developed some very large legged forwards and the Chooks have bought a few obviously. Are we doing the same. Are we thinking brains always vc beat brawn. Works sometimes.

I agree with the comments so far and that is why the appointment of the assistant coach is so critical so there can be some influence on keeping the right juniors and who we keep and who we let go. I believe McUseless will be kept until next year unless we get flogged today and not perform again next week but if not we have to have someone there to step straight into the head coaching role after say 6-8 rounds in 2020. Now is the time for the Board to make up for its poor decision to reappoint the coach so early in the season and get the right person in as the assistant before its too late and we are left with no one decent to chose from.
