West Tigers club news

Rossi was sick of everyone saying that it was the Honda bike being the reason for his success so he went to Yamaha and proved his greatness beyond doubt. Luai is the same. If he drags us to a gf, he will be one of the all time greats of the sport.

Yep.

I’m surprised that some of the panther fans are carrying on like its all business as usual.

They've chartered the shallows extremely well over the last few years with lost marquee and some of their ex pats have lost their magic.

But JL is very different and I think his loss will almost certainly spell the end the smug era.

I don’t think they understand that he lifted them up as high as Nate and Yeo in his prime.

I think Yeo had some games that were historically outstanding and his consistency left us breathless.

This is a standard factory year for him lol:

Theres some Turuva highlights on the web but even in these -JL features prominently. He combines a quite a bit with JL. There’s an understanding built in.

There’s too many times where JL Is simply toying with the opposition, too many skills and for mine, he’s best feature is his brains and eyes up footy.

That scat brained Johns mistook him for Jerome Hughes, ffs he wasn’t even playing in the match.

He can pass almost inch perfect on the run over 25 meters.

Nathan Cleary highlights, I enjoyed those, still gifted, but different sort of player. JL is up to his neck in a lot of it too.

A couple of times here he shows his drive and commitment, loves a kick in play amongst the chaos,I hope he’s not rushed back in too early.

Very exciting to have two quality smug on board in their prime. Destination club scent about it too.

We still have space for one more (I believe), wouldn't mind seeing Garner come back, not many do those plays just of the ruck better them him.
Agree re: Tito, he has the speed we need and knows how Luai works, they will go well.
I didn't watch the Cleary highlights, as I'm in the "f**k Cleary" camp.

A common thread to these strike plays is speed off the mark and different receipt options. It’s good footy even if we share reservations about the actors and the Panther regime overall.

I don't deny his skill, but I'm not a footy fan as such, I'm a West Tigers fan and am only interested in our club, what the others are doing, I don't have a lot of interest in TBH.

Everyone has their own story and preferences I guess.

But since I was called to the club, despite spoons and drama, it gets more intoxicating every year.

I think it’s Ok to look at but not to touch other clubs.

Some kind of rumble with Klem and JL, we’ve had pre-season altercations before.

Testing out each other, feeling alive.

These players are pretty tough physically, if they are still friends, that’s probably a valuable bonding period lol.

Theres plenty of mystery about the season ahead and whether or not this eras curse will continue.

We’ve bought some true marquee but they have to gel and until he improves, Benji needs proper assistance.

I’m not confident enough to risk our marquee in trial matches that don’t matter.

They can play opposed at training and work on their fitness, they can wrestle and so forth, but best to keep them out of any real harms way until it counts.

And once again, if we want to make finals we need to be a bit strategic over the season. There were some good fringies last season and they will get restless without opportunities.

And I was getting very frustrated that Benji didn’t show much courage by sending underperforming marquee back to Reggie’s.

Stef got a golden run, despite crapping on about leaving all year and leaving his best game at home every other week.

Let’s not talk about discipline issues either lol.

I understand where you are coming from but I would have our spine play the full 80 mins for both trials. they need as much real game time together as possible. If the could fire up and win the first game of the season I would be super happy.

The competency of Benji & rest of coaching staff is our biggest hurdle re gaining success.IMO Benji is glaringly not up to the difficult task of head coach of a struggling club but the irony is that key Polynesian recruits like JL & May love him & probably wouldnt have come to Concord if it weren’t for him.Hopefully Benji proves me wrong.

I tend to agree with all of that prescient insight.

The best way is for the board and officials is to get closer to the key players and perhaps commence a slow and surreptitious white-ant campaign.

So when he’s sacked, it’s not unexpected.

Richo was still belting on about the greatness of Benji in the recent HB propaganda. The club is better served if we are a bit quieter about him and see how he goes.

Hopefully, he will pull through, but last season was an unmitigated disaster. Spoon bowl was humiliating.

I’ve always thought he could serve the club in other ways and be more effective.

I don’t want another Lee drama where he goes off on a campaign of retribution because he’s no longer a God. He ran off to the media and complained when he was sacked last time. He was a bit precious after lunching out on us for years.

And this mid season holiday nonsense, this going home early. It didn’t help us.
And If he wants 9-5, don’t coach in the NRL.

If he does fail, if we don’t improve as expected, we remain the running joke of the game and sadly, without a punchline.

But I say no to risking marquee for meaningless trials.

All of our rep players have slotted into sides without so much as knowing the name of the player who threw them the inside pass at the 14th minute.

A lot of these games, unlimited interchange and some locker licking mug prop wants to put a late hit on Galvin and injures him for 7 weeks.

Not on my watch anyway.

I also want to save Benji the potential embarrassment. Hell get the blame for sure if something goes wrong. Entirely preventable.

So we win the Minto Cream Cheese Cup by 70 points and TDS is declared man of the match, while Bula goes off on a stretcher and JL has done two ACLs.

No thank you.
