Well that was a hard one to swallow. We were the better team and deserved to win the game but it just felt like round 2 again, they just don't know how to win at the moment.

Goal kicking is an obvious issue. Hastings just needs to take all of them, if his injury is not bad enough to see him miss games then he has to suck it up and kick.

The goal line defence is shocking. Have we repelled a goal line attack yet this year?

That last no try call was complete BS.

Oh so close, but not good enough. Val, you are spot on, we are absolute rubbish defending in our red zone. Is it a confidence thing or just down to the obvious fact we're really missing Pearce, Cords and JWH that bad?

Other than SKD we can't seem to make any line breaks at all. A worry

Goal kicking. A bigger worry.

All in all a much better effort though. Stiff on the no try, thought it was fair too.

Yeh, better effort I guess. Skids and Taukeiaho have easily been the most consistent so far this year. Glad to see young Horrie and Fergo get more involved as well.

3 points: Shaun Kenny-Dowall
2 points: Siosiua Taukeiaho
1 point: Daniel Tupou.

It is games like this where lack of composure from our playmakers shows. Hastings an Mitchell are still "wet behind the ears", Guerra is not a creator, and Friend? Problem with Friend in attack seems to be that when he puts something on, few if any of the rest of the team seem to know it is coming. I don't know if it is lack of communication, or rush of blood or what, but it can be exasperating at times.

Made it worse I had to sit through it at home as I was not feeling well, and even worse, pulled calf muscle earlier in the day. The end result gave me a real triple special :(

1 - Hastings

Fergo is getting back to looking dangerous in the centres, our pigs were strong in patches but still look underdone, Guerra needs something but I'm not sure what, a rocket, a rest, he just seems to be idling along.

We are a recognised goal kicker from being 2-2 so the 0-4 seems a bit unfair, but that's our lot at the moment.

Chins up lads, we'll be ok in the long term.

A football team is slowly starting to emerge from the ashes of our off-season..

SKD is in amazing form..

Fergo needs to stop the poor reads in defence, it cost us the game on Saturday as Walker strolled past him for his try..

Now they just have to work out how to close out a game..;-)

On the recognised goal kicker front we are currently sitting at 5/13 (38.5%) This include penalty goals!

If you just look at our conversions we are 2/10.. 20 f**king %

no ones winning anything with that.. I must say our recruitment decisions are quite baffling when you take out the players that are injured .

Also not going into the season with a goal kicker is a little puzzling to say the least.... throwing Mitchell under the bus straight into fullback with the kicking duties on week 2 is probably not going to be great for his confidence.

anyway as others have said we really should be 2 and 2. I said before the season that we would need to win about half of our first 12 games before getting our full compliment of players back to salvage a finals birth this season. that's looking pretty tough at the moment although stranger things have happened.

oh and the points.

Jackson Hastings was pretty much designated to be the first string goal kicker. Word is though he is carrying a minor quad strain. So as to not aggravate it, that is why they have had Mitchell and Taukeiaho do the duties first up as both have been first choice kickers in Toyota Cup at times. That said I think after Taukeiaho missed his two Hastings must have either acquiesced or demanded to take them himself.

The goal kicking issues are being overstated. As someone else said jackson was always meant to do it and as shown in England he is a handy kicker. He got 1/2 last week both from the sideline. Unfortunately with his niggling injury he has not kicked and we have no backup. He said this week in an interview he will be taking all kicks now though.
