Good enough performance for round 2 given the injuries both before and during the game and the subsequent reshuffling.

We looked like premiership contenders in the first half. The defence was great until manly scored their first try which we made them work for and then from there you could tell the boys just wanted the game to end now that the 0 was off the board.

We do make life hard for ourselves though. Kick offs on the full, playing at kicks going to touch etc. If not for those silly errors we probably win 32-12.

It would be nice for us to have a game in the dry weather though.

3 points: Luke Keary. 4 try assists alone made him my player of the match. Really is our key play maker.

2 points: Jared Warea-Hargreaves. 41 tackles (topped the count) and 22 runs for 253 metres (of which he made 160 metres in the first half). Set the platform for Keary.

1 point: James Tedesco. His fielding of grubber kicks was superb in the conditions and he ran the ball back as well as ever.

Couple of senior players missing, reduced bench, players out of position, a debutant, a team we have a poor record against and a wet fortress Brookvale. Mistakes aside, I’m actually happy with the effort.

Given the way Trent runs the side with a long season in mind, I think of us as kinda like the Italian soccer team. Do enough in the group stages and everyone rights you off only to come good at the business end.

3. Keary
2. JWH
1. Teddy

Special shout out to our two debutant halves, Lam and Trell

Points: Same as all above.

Job done, and we’re off and running. Despite Manly’s 2nd half Mini comeback the result was never really in doubt. You don’t win comps in March. Well done boys.

A very solid win against a predictably fired up Manly side under Des at Brookie.

Given the injuries before and during the game that was an ultra impressive 26 nil scoreline before those factors took their toll.

3. Keary. Best 6 or 7 in the comp. Give him Cronk's million from next year.
2. JWH. The best prop in the game. What a beast like performance. We follow his lead as much as Freddy's Roosters followed Morley's.
1. Teddy. Great hands in horrid conditions and a brilliant running game.
