Eagles in money
SEA Eagles CEO Graham Lowe is close to announcing a six-figure sponsor for the 2010 NRL season.

We hear Lowey took some time out during the week for a round of golf at Roseville, alongside board member Brett Delmege and the new sponsors.

The four-man group picked a bad day, with rain greeting them on the course on Wednesday.
The bloke is really starting to return on the faith that was shown in him

Choc on the box
MANLY second-rower Anthony Watmough might have a career in television after impressing all for his part in a skit for the upcoming Matthew Johns’ sports show.
The scene was shot at Harbord Park, with ‘Choc’ letting no-one down with his role.
We also hear, Spiro, the Freshwater Chicken King, does a fine job as John Hopoate’s father.
Mauro express
SPEAKING of careers away from the footy field, Manly fringe forward Vic Mauro is moonlighting as a bus driver for the newly established Manly Express Airport Shuttle.
The airport-run business for the northern beaches, run by Manly Daily surfing columnist, Adam Hennessey, has also chipped in with some sponsorship of the Sea Eagles.
“I’m just grabbing who I can, Vic Mauro is one of my drivers,” Hennessey confirmed.
Monners over moon
EX-SEA Eagles half Michael Monaghan is in love and reportedly set to marry.
The now-Warrington Wolves half has fallen head over heels for an English girl.
“In cricketing terms, he’s batting overs,” our Warrington spy told us.
“This could be the one.”
Bub for Kites
CONGRATULATIONS to Sea Eagles prop Brent Kite after his wife Haley welcomed Poppy Ana Kite into the world this week.
She weighed in a healthy 3.95 kg and by all reports mum are Poppy are doing well.

THE shutting down of the ground announcer’s microphone at Brookvale Oval from the honey tongue voice of Grant Goldman ends a remarkable era of three decades for the veteran radio announcer. The arrival of a recent baby girl to his already big family of seven children made up his mind that it was time for him to simply enjoy his football as one of the fans.
Goldman has been a pillar of support for Manly over his 30 years behind the microphone at the old ground. His passion and his loyalty has never waned.
And his famous “Beeever” call when the club’s greatest try-scorer crossed the line has been part of the fun at the game for such a long period at Brookvale.
His private tribute to Steve Menzies continues over in England with a recording sent to the Bradford Bulls by Goldman replayed just to make Manly’s favourite son feel at home.

THE selection of Tony Williams in the centres alongside Steve Matai for Monday night’s blockbuster start to the season against the Tigers has surprised many. Williams made a steady but not spectacular start to his Manly career last season but has worked hard on his fitness in the summer to give himself every opportunity in 2010.
The Tigers won’t be taking Williams lightly.
The big man scored one of the tries of the season at the Sydney Football Stadium last year when he ran over the top of six defenders on the way to a bulldozing try.
A little bit of controlled aggression passed on from his centre-mate Matai and Williams could be one of the real success stories of the season.
