My gut says Manly should win this, they have been the more impressive side and they are at home.

Storm favourites for epic clash

| August 04, 2008
http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/sport/nrl/story/0,26799,24122333-5006066,00.html

MELBOURNE will start firm favourites for Friday's blockbuster with Manly in what is set to be the biggest NRL betting event of the season. According to TAB Sportsbet's Glenn Munsie, last year's grand final replay will see Melbourne start around $1.60 and Manly $2.30 at Brookvale Oval.
The Sea Eagles are also likely to be handed a 4.5 start when markets are released.
Storm CEO Brian Waldron and his Sea Eagles counterpart Grant Mayer exchanged niceties last night when told about the markets.
"I expect Manly to be hard to beat because they'll be on their own dung hill," Waldron said.
Mayer replied: "We're happy to be the underdogs and, after all, Melbourne are well and truly the best team in the competition."
Manly veteran Steve Menzies said his side had to somehow restrict a rampaging Melbourne to just two tries if they are a chance of winning.
That, Menzies says, will be a horrendous task given Melbourne will send out Billy Slater, Steve Turner, Anthony Quinn, Greg Inglis and Israel Folau.
Part of the Manly side thumped 26-4 earlier this year, along with last year's 34-8 grand final wipeout, Menzies said: "They (Melbourne) can put three to four tries on you pretty quickly so our defence will have to work overtime.
"Last time we beat them we only scored 13 points (13-12 at Brookvale in 2007).
"So to win I think we'll have to keep them to two tries - and that will be hard."

A win by 18 or more will see Storm go to the top of the ladder.

Thats some pretty good motivation right there Dani.

Wouldnt you know it, I'll be driving to Canberra while the games on, just for a wedding anniversary weekend %*&^$# @#@#$% .

If Manly dont win then they will be scarred for the semi finals and might not ever get it right for the semis...just like after 1997 gf loss

Either way I hope its a good game, Manly have the Home Ground Advantage and are in top form.. I for one hope the storm win.. unlike last years table when storm finished minor premiers and manly 2nd, we now see the opposite with manly chasing the minor premiership.. A win againts the storm on friday is a must if manly are to going to win the minor premiership and the loss to manly by the storm will certainly put them out of the race..

Storm by 2

In hindsight I should have booked a hotel at Manly , then said to the wife "what a coincidence, Storm and Many playing at brookie".

Melbourne are not as intense as Manly. I think they'll win 1-12. Melbourne's Passion from 06 and 07 has disappeared.

Manly must remove the idea of revenge or winning etc they must play their natural game and focus on their training and game plan. If they go in for revenge melbourne will win by over 40 points. This is just another game and also manly shouldnt care less if they lose this one. As The Grand final is the reall thing. Last year we beat the storm during the comp and lost the big one.

unfortunately without Jamie Lyon with out king, watmough injured, orfored with a groin problem it will be all melbourne. My tip Melbourne by 26 but manly to win in the grandfinal.

I believe it will be a close game, providing Manly turn up to play.

In saying that, Storm by a margin of less than 12.

Calm down Timmah. Easily the match of the season so far, and by the amount of discussion already I think it warrants this thread.

I think Melbourne will cart them all over Brookie. I thnk Manly are gone when it comes to the Storm, they're already beat.

Should be a fight though. Hopefully...

I don't doubt that... just seems there's one impatient kiddo on here ;-)

Match of the season, blockbuster Friday night that should be a quality contest and just what the NRL would want to advertise the game to growing markets...

Yet Melbourne wont get to see it till midnight.

f**king disgrace.
