I think Manly should win, and win comfortably.

Really looking forward to Friday, it'll end off a massive week of assessments.

Manly by 13+ , Glen Stewart to have a blinder and win MOM.

Mauled Sharks trap

MANLY coach Des Hasler last night warned his team not to underestimate the struggling Sharks this Friday night despite the Sutherland Shire club being decimated by injury and suspensions.

The Sharks were last night dealt a triple blow at the NRL Judiciary ahead of Friday's crunch-match against the Sea Eagles, with back-rower Paul Gallen, winger Misi Talaupapa and halfback Anthony Watts all facing charges.

They will all miss one match if they take the early guilty plea.

The Sharks also lost NSW Origin five-eighth Greg Bird for a month with a broken thumb, while Luke Covell, Adam Dykes and Brett Kimmorley are already on the sidelines.

``It doesn't matter who they put on the park they always turn up to play and are a very tough side,'' Hasler said last night.
``You know in rugby league when a team's got their back against the wall that's when they are most dangerous.

``They are a good side and probably have their season on the line.

``It's an important game because we are playing for plenty as well.

``We want to keep pressure on Melbourne as well as consolidate our position on the table.''

The Sea Eagles didn't escape the wrath of the judiciary either with centre Steve Matai slapped with a grade one Contrary Conduct charge.

The New Zealand international, who has played just five matches all year, could miss the next two weeks after allegedly headbutting Chris Heighington in the first half of Friday's crushing 34-4 win over the Tigers.

``We'll have a look at the tape with (lawyer) Geoff Bellow before we decide if we fight the charge,'' CEO Grant Mayer said.
The Sea Eagles blew the over-rated tag out of the water against the Tigers last Friday in the comfortable six tries to one demolition.

Steve Menzies, who is expected to announce later this week that he will play in 2008, scored two tries while interchange forward Adam Cuthbertson also played strongly. Injured centre Steve Bell (quad) and second-rower Anthony Watmough (ankle) are in doubt for the Sharks match.

Hopefully Matai, Bell and Choco are all good to go.

If that's the case, Burns to drop off the Bench. Monas is an 80 minute hooker, Lyon is finally starting to show some class, Barry Dawson can cover the hooking spot in a pinch and Beaver can run outside of Lyon in the centres all day...

Sharks v Sea Eagles preview

Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - 1:54 PM
It’s make or break time for the Shire boys, whose ordinary loss to the Roosters last week plummeted them to 11th on the ladder and extended their woeful recent record to just one win from their past seven games.
Worse, injuries and suspensions have them fielding one of the least-experienced sides in their 40-year history – Greg Bird is out for at least four weeks with a badly broken thumb, playmaker Brett Kimmorley is missing until round 24, while powerhouse prop Lance Thompson, Brett Kearney and Adam Dykes will also be missing this week.
Then there are the three bad boys who find themselves serving time this week for their part in a brawl during the Roosters clash – Origin star Paul Gallen, Misi Talaupapa and makeshift half Anthony Watts.
To cover for the losses desperate coach Ricky Stuart has recalled the banished Brett Seymour to halfback and drafted debutants Eddie Su’a and Dane Nielsen for the crucial clash.
The Sea Eagles, meanwhile, have fewer worries than a Buddhist monk – they’ve quickly corrected the stumble that saw them lose two in a row to the Bulldogs and Dragons and were simply devastating at home last week, demolishing the Wests Tigers 34-4.
Their only injury is to prop Jason King – but they managed to route the Tigers without him anyway.
Watch out Sharks: The Manly backline is one of the slickest in the competition.
Starting with Mat Orford and extending to the blistering talent of Brett Stewart at fullback, their “magnificent seven” have scored 43 of the team’s total 71 tries.
The forwards and bench players who will take the field this week are no slouches when it comes to attack either – they have a combined 20 tries this season.
By comparison this week’s Sharks backline has just 23 four-pointers. And their forwards and bench players? Just eight. Yikes.

Watch out Sea Eagles: Short of missing the game due to a bad traffic snarl there doesn’t appear to be much to concern the second-placed Sea Eagles – except for their incredibly bad record when travelling to Toyota Park.

It seems inconceivable that any team could go more than a few seasons without an away victory at one particular venue, but that’s just what haunts the Sea Eagles.
They haven’t beaten the Sharks in the Shire since, wait for it, 1986!
Where it will be won: Discipline. The Sea Eagles will be keen to keep their momentum rolling and their coach Des Hasler will have instructed his charges to not divert from the game plan that has served them so will in 2007 – set the plays up with good go-forward before unleashing the magnificent attacking skills at their disposal.
They rank second in the NRL for attack (scoring nearly 24 points a game) and second also for defence (conceding 13 points a game).
They’ll look to spark early, too – last week was the 11th time they’ve been the first try scorer in a game in 2007.

The History: Played 71; Sharks 21, Sea Eagles 48, drawn 2. The Sharks have won four of the past six games, although the Roosters’ only two wins in that time have come at Brookvale Oval.

Conclusion: Setting aside the fact Manly has scored 90 points from their past two games, it’s their defence that really stands out.

Anyone who thinks this team is over-rated is dreaming – last week’s opportunist try to Stuart Flanagan was the only points they’ve conceded in their past 193 minutes of footy.
Is it any wonder Steve Menzies, who scored two tries last week, wants to lace up again for a 16th season next year?
Menzies is relishing his footy, especially given the pressure is off him as a senior player with everyone else firing.
Just look at a guy like Adam Cuthbertson, drafted in late last week in jersey 21.
The 110-kilo forward was arguably best on ground, with 14 runs for 152 metres, five tackle breaks, two try assists a line break and two offloads – it was Sonny Bill stuff!
No, if the Sea Eagles can’t break their 21-year Toyota Park hoodoo this week they’ll have only themselves to blame.
And it should also signal the end of another Sharks premiership bid that started out promising everything and delivered far from it.

Match officials: Referee – Shayne Hayne; Sideline Officials – Allen Foster & Russell Turner; Video ref – Graeme West.

Televised: Channel 9 – Live 7.30pm (NSW), Delayed 9.30pm (Qld); FoxSports 3 – Delayed 7.30pm.

You guys have to beat them, this should be an easy match but I think you guys will struggle to score points because of the voodoo in the first half,in the second half however should power home.
