Mansour asking for 400K a season

This 400k is not correct.
Gould was asked what he thought Mansour was worth and the jurno said about 400K.
Gould then said that wouldn't get you to 1st base with Mansour.
He is asking for more than that looking for a payrise.

Yeah that makes sense. 400k would be too good to be true. Only a starting point.

Realistically, it probably won't happen. The natural successor for Nightingale for next season (or even earlier) is Lomax and don’t know why we would potentially try jeapordise that

I would hope that we give Lomax and company some time on the bench and some game time.
I think since JD left we lost a good coach who got the best out of the players. You can bet that if players from the reserves do not see a progression to first grade, some other team will.

FMD! Mansour is an Australian representative winger and some on here would prefer an untried / unproven developing junior who is not even standing out in the lower grades....It could be years before they are as good as Mansour, if ever
The only question to ask is will he improve the squad and the chances of getting to and winning a grand final.
Then we can look at cap space, asking price (value), length of contract (age) etc...

Every time someone is available we should see it as an opportunity to strengthen the Dragons and deny the competitors of talent.
If the juniors a good enough they will compete and come through.

With regular success and a good roster maybe we could become a club that players will want to play for for less.

The question is, how much should we pay for a decent winger, such as Mansour? I thought 400K sounded quite reasonable, but I don't think we should be spending much more that that on wingers.

I have mentioned Matherson Johns. I am not sure if he will make it. He does have a decent build for a winger or centre. Some have even suggested that his future could lie in the second row. He could become a winger in the Mansour mould. But again if he is really good then we will have to pay him market value, or we will lose him. If his form is good in IPS, then I would like to see him given a run this year, but I doubt that will happen. He may not even be eligible. But we do still have one spot left in our top 30 squad.

It is a no for me. Great player but surely he will demand more than $400k and there are some players including Dufty that we will need to upgrade very soon and players like Graham we will have to pay full rate from next year on.

Yes, I don't see Matt Head as a coach preparing his players for first grade. We need to improve our system so that all of our reserve grade players are heavily monitored and held to account for their fitness, improvement and general skills.
