This must be one of the most anticlimatic Heismans of all time, really was a one horse race

First Polynesian to get the award...

I'm friends with some of his Samoan family... They are going crazy on facebook...

Good on him... What an achievement.

The next big question is will he suceed in the NFL? The Oregon Ducks don't have a great history of producing good NFL quarterbacks.

I think Chip Kelly and the Eagles are the best situation for him.

Unfortunately he won't last long enough for the Eagles... The only way they could get him is to trade for him.... But I'd say it would be too big of a price for them to pay to get him.

RGIII could be a far cheaper option with a lot less fallout if it turns to custard.

To be honest I'm more intrigued by Winston.... I think he's going to be the better QB in the long term... Assuming he handles his shit off the field.

I dont even dream that he makes it to the eagles, it's that unrealistic. But yeah, unless he goes to a team that is fully invested in what he is and what he can do, it's not going to work. You've got to have an organisation that is willing to tailor their offense and franchise around Mariota's skill set

Obviously Philly is already do that, but he aint getting there, and Howie Roseman is no Thomas Dimitroff. He's closer to Belicheck then Dimitroff. He values draft picks, he isnt giving up the kings randsom to move up and get Mariota.

Winston is an entirely different cat. Ignoring his off the field concerns, which of course you cant, but if you did, he's the sort of dude who fits just about any scheme or offense. But he has quietly looked HORRIBLE at times this year, his tape is not going to be pretty when scouts pour over it.

I am really intrigued by both. I think Winston is a little bit safer, his floor is higher given he can work in almost any offense, but Mariota's ceiling is significantly higher than Winston.

Id roll the dice with Mariota if i were making the call.

Mariota scares me when I watch him... He's a one read and bolt type of QB... In the mould of Kap or RG3...

That works in college but NFL defences soon work it out....

An NFL QB needs to have the ability to hang in the pocket work through the progressions. From what I've seen of him and all the talk from the experts seem to confirm that he has his first read... And if that's covered he runs from the pocket... I've listened to Trent Dillfer talk at length about the need for the likes of RG3 and Kap to stay in the pocket long enough to let that 2nd and 3rd route develop.

Winston is a whole different issue in that he does hang tough in the pocket... The issue for him according to Dillfer and Steve Young... Is his decision making. He throws a lot balls in to tight coverage or he gets in to periods in games where he favours certain receivers heavily and doesn't watch the coverages... He's incredibly accurate in the clutch... An absolute game winner....

But just like Mariota won't find it as easy to break out of the pocket and use his legs... Winston won't be able to play shit in the first half and expect to rally the troops to a miracle win every week in the NFL...

Winston and Mariota also complete a lot of passes to dudes WIDE f**kING OPEN. Like, no one in the same zip code. So that's going to change at the next level

I don't watch college footballl (not that I don't like it, but just that I don't have time), but from what I've read, Mariota will be a nuffy in the NFL. He'll probably have a couple of Tebow-style games, but that'll be it.
