Mark Bryant and Jack Afamasaga

RLW reports Mark Bryant is off overseas, while Jack Afamasaga is not required. Although I think we have a few options in centre, we are losing Bell and Beaver. He seems fairly reliable most of the time.

I've been happy with our forward rotation. King, Kite, Perry, Bryant, Hall. I'm not so happy about the lack of depth. We already have been tested in this department this year.

Just a side point too. Rather than Hall playing 2nd row with Watmough out, I wouldn't mind seeing Kitey get a go.

I havent seen much of the U20's Manly games this year. What are the forwards like in that team? Any who are ready to step up to FG next year? or any from the NSW cup team?

We'll still have a pretty strong forward line up next year.

Kite - Ballin - Perry - Watmough - Williams - Stewart.

Id like to see how this line up would go.

Kite had a go at backrow at the start of the year. He was pretty bad until he got put back to prop. He prefers prop, he can lead the forward pack more effectivley from there, he has said so himself.

We will be no worse off depth wise IMO, it will just force Hasler to use some younger guys who couldn't be much worse than Afamasaga, Morewood and Robson.

We're in trouble if we lose Morewood, what a star! Poached by French Union was he?
Hopefully Rose can play a few games next year.

Those of us fortunate to follow the Manly NYC team show their is plenty of depth in the 2nd row and front row/forwards in general. Many players have another year of Toyota Cup eligibility left or they can fill in NSW Cup duties. Infract I say Manly have very good young stocks coming thru in these area's and with proper nuturing and training with the top 25 they will get even better. Manly NYC forwards have got big size and atheliticism (havent seen many other teams bigger) and only need to continue developing in training and getting game time - here is my opinion list of Manly's young prospects coming thru that I have seen play this year (their are others that I would have missed esp at away games outside sydney so feel free to add on and i didnt comment on hookers):

2nd rowers/front rowers -

Jared Waerea Hargreaves - 1st season of fulltime rugby league, still learning, has great size can fill in front row, committed and hardworker, if he remains in league will be 1st grader

Kenny Edwards - recognised junior rep who hasnt let the club down in his potential to be regular 1st grader of the future (can Manly keep him will be the question) great speed for a big man, those of us watching the games would like to see him kerb his discipline and get involved more but he has the goods

Darcy Lussick - Very improved big man just back from injury, also fill front row and manly local with great potential and only getting better with game time and hard training,

Michael Tiopira - from cabramatta/westfields high school, also excellent potential after an injury, just as big as lussick and hargreaves and only needs further development, lately been excellent off the bench and would benefit from training with top 25

Inoke Tapaatoutai - Been in Manly system for a few years and has been very good for go forward and will be regular starter in NSW Cup team and good potential, never back down

Todd wilson - has good size and doesnt look out of place in the Toyota Cup, hardworker on defence, keep developing

Capt Ilija Radan - leads by example - not as big as the other young guys but has good technique and rugby learning and not afraid to get in their, quiet and could be more vocal but always in the action

Zac Bowles - has also filled in the lock position and been a good link player esp to the halves

Cameron Woo and Ben Uptiin, big size with further develoment and more game time, very good potential esp next year

So I think recruiting in this area is very good and potential for many of these players to possibly play 1st grade in the future.

many picked this NYC team to finish wooden spoon in 2008 but find other clubs with better established juniors behind them and this team make 1 last push for top 8 spot

Out there supporting the boys tommorrow against the storm

Manlys losing too much depth i like both hall and bryant they have been doing their job and becoming 1st class forwards. I dont think jack is up to it. I would have sold king and kept both bryant and hall they are more reliable. Kings always injured

Newcastle is the only one below you at the moment with better established juniors and they are doing some  things

Kite has that BK feel to him. Last night was a prime example of why I would like to see him turn into an 80 minute (or near) player.

I would also like to point that Kite's form was a bit off at the start of the season.

Props can retire young. I'd like us to stitch him up for a few years at Manly.

With all due respect to Mark Bryant, he tries his guts out, but he rarely shows he is worthy of a spot in the 17. Des is very loyal and keeps picking him, but he lacks the impact needed by a bench player these days. As for Jack, I'd like to see a bit more of him. He certainly hasn't had the same number of opportunities that Bryant has, and if the word is they want to offload him. I guess it will be a case of what could have been.
Also, I don't think Tony Williams is or will be a starter next year. In my opinion, he has 'impact player' written all over him. Manly will need some cover in the centres next year and down the track I think he has the potential to be very good there. But, for his immediate future, I see him coming off the bench and playing in the back row.
