Since some people get on here and claim that Parra is going to sign players X,Y and Z because "they know a friend who knows people in high places" I feel like I don't want to be left out!

So here's one for you - McLinden. Yes, I know he is still under contract but we will just wait and see what happens here.

i say sign him on a contract where he plays for us good and not badly

They're called "incentive contracts". They used to be common in the days before player-managers, salary caps and super-league. A player would get a lot more $$$ for a team win than if the team lost. They weren't a bad idea either ;-)

Interesting. We already have had one 'Super Mac', and buggered him up.

McLinden is great on his day. Inconsistent. Would suit us perfectly. BUt at least he's experienced.

i also think he is a good player, but i would rather have Witt/Morris/Thorman as the halves.....but if we did manage to sign him, i wouldn't complain :)

a decent small, fast guy who can take on the line - I think that would be VERY handy for us.....one of our problems with the halves is that we have no one with enough pace to take on the line and take advantage of slow forwards....witty seems a bit slow, dykes is more a crab who needs runners to be effective (altho he can take on the line occassionally).

i wouldn't be upset if we got mclindon

Would be very nice but can't see it happening

on a side note McLinden was an Eels fan as a kid and his fav. player was Sterling

I do know that when we signed McFadden I had hoped we had picked up McLinden instead. Be interesting to see if BB has more than just a rumour. McLinden is definitely not a halfback but in many ways a similar player to Dykes - outside a half willing to organise it could be an interesting move. Inconsistency is his main downfall however Dykes has been of a similar vein at times so it wouldn't make much difference.

McLinden would be a sensational buy IMO, but too good to be true!! not that I doub't BB like everyone he posts what he hears and we've all done that in the past.

If it came down to a choice between McLinden & Dykes I'd choose McLinden every time, but I can't see this one happening in a million years.

They love him down in Canberra and given that they've lost Wiki, Davico & Monaghan it seems a very far fetched rumour.

We bought the wrong one. Maybe this could be fixed.

well he has been said to be unhappy at Canberra (like most of them down there) and he would play 5/8.....he is a 5/8 naturally, so it "could" be good in my opinion
