Classic centre forward play, back to the goal, hold off the defender, turn and shoot. Brilliant stuff. And Woodgate is no slouch

In complete agreeance with all posts in this thread. You essentially want your strikers in the EPL to be strong and crafty. Viduka is very much both of those!

That goal was tremendous. It's a pity we don't see more of that at Socceroo level, but he's not really given the same quality of service most of the time. Great to see Mark get his first Newcastle goal.

I agree that he is one of the best strikers Australia has seen in a long time and he is easily one of the best players in the world when having his back to the goal. And he has proved that on numerous occasions.

He has great leadership ability yes, he is very creative and crafty.........BUT!

There are aspects of his play that are horrific.

Mainly it is his speed. He is slow, very slow. And it pisses me off at times. Bresc, Culina etc. will play a nice through ball through the defensive line only for Viduka to be beaten to the ball by a defender who had to turn around and then chase the ball.

He is a great player, yes, but he is by far not the 'full package' and I tell you what, we're bound to produce one that is.

To compare him against players like aloisi and mori (saying them as they have scored many more goals) is laughable. You need to look at what he has done to our squad...great player

I can't think of another Aussie striker that has scored so many goals in a top flight competition such as the EPL.
