Yes and No. We have a better chance to make the 8 apparently with 18 game 22 year old Pezet which will give finals experience to our younger guys. Then in 2027 we bring in Lorenzo unless someone else becomes available.

Might as well make a play at metcalf and get him to do the classic compassionate grounds to leave nzl early. That way we improve for thus year and build our future. Like if we were so convinced on lorenzo surely we woukdnt have offered pezet a long conrract initially

My mail is that we put an offer on the table for Pezet for 3 years and they looked at it seriously.

Brisbane came in with a better offer, but only starting 2027. We were asked would we consider a 1 year deal at a lesser price and given our hope for Lorenzo, et al, as future NRL players, we decided Pezet would be an improved short term solution over Footy Dean and Volkman.

Not sure that means we got played or that there is smoke being blown up anyone's ass with what is being said.

I reckon this is fairly likely. And we've had a think about it and gone yeah actualy its not the worse option in out situation (even though it means swallowing our pride )
It does suggest but that we were ok to let Lorenzo walk if landed Pezet

Let's clarify. There are 2 seperate points in time. Before he activated his clause and after. Before that point we were interested in a one year loan deal. After he became available we offered him a 3 year deal. To say one year was always the plan is disingenuous. Ryles takes heat on this one as he was heavily involved.

We may have been ok to let Fletcher walk though, but this solution may well let us keep them both and have a long term succession plan at both 6 and 7. Far out I'm talking myself into this.

He will be a year older with a whole extra preseason and a full year of reserve grade under his belt. He should be a much better player by then. Unfortunately Moses will be 33 and Paulo (34), Walker (33) and JAC (32) might all be gone. Why waste 2026? Missing the finals for a fourth straight year isn’t how you build for a premiership. Rebuilding is only supposed to take one year ffs

Of course we’re not convinced on Talataina. He’s on a development deal for the next two years. He’s just an option. Pezet was the bird in the hand. He’s ready for the NRL right now.

You’re assuming these people make plans with no contingencies. They are risk managers ffs. They have plan B, C and probably other letters too.
