Marshall off the Bench

Would anyone consider Marshall starting on the bench an option.

As much as it hurts me to say i would like to see Morris defend(the only thing he has going) in the first 20-30 mins and than see Marshall come on.

Parra will throw everything they have towards Marshall at first, i believe there would be a phycocolgical benifit if they find out an hour before game that their plans of attacking him while fresh are gone. it would be good to see him come on just after Galloway, once the Moi Moi & Cayless sting is over.

I also believe the plan should be to hold on defensively for first 20-30 mins and attack late in the half, we're kidding ourselves if we think we will score points at will.

Anyone agree or have i been smoking too much crack??

I can see what you're getting at.

My only problem with that is that Parramatta will be aiming to play in the middle of the park almost entirely in that time, and Benji would be an asset to getting the play moving out wide and in turn, taking the Parramatta game away from them.

I think we'll see Morris play quite a bit tonight to try and take some of the defensive workload off Robbie. To the point that I wouldn't be surprised that both of them spend a fair amount of time on the field together. Morris and Farah both as hookers in attack, Morris moving to a kind of front row position in the second half while defending.

I also think that we'd do well to have a lot of scoots from dummy half tonight. The big parra forwards will get worn out quicker if they are constantly running backwards, could lead to the game opening up favourably for us in the second half.

If we try and play defensively in the first 20-30 minutes, and try to stand toe to toe with the Parra pack, we'll get beaten.

We can't submit to their style, it's lead to our demise everytime. The few times we've beaten them, we've played the game our way, not theirs.

Agree not to try and "out-muscle" Parra and we shouldn't play defensively per se. But, in the first 20-30 minutes the mindset should be "disciplined play" (well, main focus for the first part but present during the whole game!).

Don't force passes, don't try to "money-ball" every 5th tackle option. Play a tight game with a straight line. Prove that we aren't going to bend under their forwards and frustrate their play-makers. Then, as the game opens up, use the usual Tigers attack.

Also, a prediction..."we will win if Bryce Gibbs doesn't give away a penalty" :D

too much crack.

What if... in the first 20 minutes we have chances to put points on Parra and J-Mo stuffs things up as he has done in the past ? If we miss those opportunities in the first 20, we lose the game. We want teams worrying about Benji for 80 mins not doing them a favour.

I can see the theory behind having JM on there but i also agree with Havok, A bit of benji magic can swing momenteum our way in a blink of the eye. We have to just stick with who we have and hope they can stand up and play above themselves in defence. I actualy think they will test Lui more than they test benji and that worries me because as i said last week i didnt think he looked real confident in defence and if dumb arse me noticed im sure parra's coaching staff did as well. I hope it was just 1st game nerves and he tackles who ever they want to send his way.

benji's long kicking game has improved alot recently, we need him out there to gain field position

If we complete our sets, kick for touch or kick dead to minimize Hayne's influence in broken play we should win. That said Im sure its a lot easier said than done..

even kicking to corners will be enough to negate Hayne's impact.

Just make sure the ball bounces before if he touches it, that will give our defence just that little bit extra time to get there and will mean Hayne will have no momentum to start with.

We've been playing our best footy when we attack and stay positive throughout the game. Starting Morris is a defensive move, and is at odds to what has made us a good team over the past few weeks.

Not in a million years, Benji is just as likley to score in the first 10seconds as in the the last 10 minutes, he is that sort of player. Also I have noticed his defense in the past three weeks has been very good.

No.

Your best player should play as many minutes as possible. It's as simple as that.

With Parra's defence as good as it is, we need to be able to capitalise on every chance we get. With Morris and a rookie in the halves, we won't do that. I'd rather be up 18-16 at halftime, than be down 4-0
