For the record, the Bulldogs have stated on at least two occasions, that they are not using this to excuse Willie's behaviour. Anyone who suggests that they are are misrepresenting the club.

If its not an excuse then why make it public?

Steve Folkes said:

"This is not to absolve him of any wrongdoing, this is just to say that there is another side to him, he is working hard to try to get over this... we're just trying to get another side of him out there," Folkes said.

Dr Hugh Hazard said:

"We're not asking people to say that because he's got ADHD you should forgive him for everything he's done. But what we are saying is that there are other reasons that his behaviour may occasionally seem out of character and give us a chance, give him a chance . . . we're doing our best to turn that around."

The way I see it, they just wanted to give people an understanding of the situation they were all trying to deal with.

Maybe it's their way of explaining the clubs actions, or lack of given his troublesome ways. He was very much on the outer when he clashed with Steve Folkes, but they've been seeing an improvement in his attitude to training and playing since the problem was diagnosed. This has been reflected with his performances on the field this year.

Maybe it's the club, and Willie's way of saying, we're not ignoring what's happening. We know there are problems which can't be excused, but we're trying to turn them around. They've been going through the process of getting him dispensation since February. It's not as if they've been sitting on their hands and ignoring the problems.

Surely he was told that alcohol would exacerbate his condition, and yet he still got drunk. He has been very irresponsible.

That's very true.

The other day I was calling for his axing, and I'm still not convinced that that shouldn't happen. However, not being an expert on this condition, I'm not prepared to make a decision one way or the other, because I simply don't know enough to be able to make an informed decision.

At the very least, he needs to show that he recognises that he's not the victim in all this. He needs to apologise for what he's done. He needs to sign the kids jumper/album properly with a little something extra. He needs to apologise for swearing in front of kids.

His doodling is a non-issue, based on the evidence we've seen.

The Mason/Mini female assault allegations were nothing but a load of crap, which have been disproven.

He probably used poor judgement, but didn't break any rules by spending a night on the town.

I've got no problems with a brothel visit. I think that's a private matter, and none of them would have wanted it to be publicised. They were naive for thinking it wouldn't be, and in my view it's an invasion of privacy to make it public. They weren't breaking any laws. There are bucket loads of brothels around, and that's because there are bucket loads of people who use them. It's better to go to a brothel than harrass unwilling girls.

And what's wrong with catching a public bus, and eating pies? Geez. I don't think he has anything to answer for on that night. The phone call is the only thing anyone should be apolgising for.

He needs to apologise for his attitude at the autograph session, and he was sober for this.

]Did that doctor just say ADHD doesn't affect behaviour? Wow... are you sure that doctor hasn't had their license revoked? ADHD is used in criminal cases to blame people for murders and yet this doctor says it can't be used for a footballs indiscretions... gg
All the more reason Mason should stand down from football and take his medication while his application for an exemption is going through. After all we don't want Willie murdering somebody because of this condition do we? Mind you these days you can blame almost anything for making you murder somebody. The whole things a pathetic excuse, as I said if it's that bad and brought so much angst to the Bulldogs they should insist he takes his medication, they are an employer haven't they heard of "Duty Of Care" letting him play football with this mind affecting disorder is certainly not showing a duty of care. What if he bites someones ear off in a game will that be the excuse? wake up, if it's that much of a problem then they should make sure it gets fixed.

On the other hand, would standing him down breach equal employment opportunity/discrimination laws? Suspending him due to a disorder? I don't know.

Yes it would.

Suspend or sack him because of actions caused by ADHD or because he has it, is illegal, and the club/game responsible will be in seriously deep shit.

I would hate to be the Bulldogs if he did do harm to somebody in his capacity as a player for that club, and that person were then to take action through the courts. Especially now they have admitted to knowing about it and thus far doing nothing.

To answer the discrimination question. I think the Dogs could make a fair argument that would stand up if they were to stand him down due to this condition. Lets face it, trouble has been his companion now for quite some time, now as you have done in a post above some of that can be explained away, argued against, but the overall picture is a volcano getting ready to erupt, Mason is time bomb, he has been the centre of controversy to many times for it to be all a coincidence, or vicimisation. For the good of the game and him if it's that much a problem steps should be taken to fix it. You have to weigh one against the other Razor, if they stand him down for his own good, then I think you'll find he'd be pushing sh!t uphill to win a discrimination case.
