MASON = KNIGHTS

Word is that the Knights have come into play for his signing along with Storm and Cronulla.

Financially speaking, dont know how we could afford him? I would assume Perry will be left unsigned, he is on about 220k, Hughes is not going to be resigned he is on 250k, Hall and others such as Tanner, Kennedy etc would be on a combined total of 300k maybe?

Buderus would take a chunk of this and obviously if they sign Mason he will too! The one advantage that the Knights have over the other clubs is proximity, his mum lives there and his family.

Would be a great signing for any club i think, will be interting to see how it pans out.

No way can they afford him with what they pay Johns and what they will have to pay Buderus.

I'll swap Mason for Buderus though! (But only if we get Baily from the Dragons) ;-)

Really i can only see him signing with a Sydney club, the glitz and glamour of the big city is all to much for big Willie to turn down.

oh i don't know - the pre season off-field activities of the knights may have been an attempt to lure big willie!

Mason would be a good buy for the Knights, whether or not they could afford him is another matter.

That's an excellent point!

Seriously though, it might be time for Newcastle to re-evalute their strategy - is committing a huge proportion of your salary cap to 2 players really going to win you a premiership? They would seem to have a decent team when everyone's fit..

Perry
Buderus
Woolnough
Reynoldson
Abraham
Johns
Gidley
Hall
Gidley
Hughes
Quinn
and his name's slipped my mine, but the kid that did he knee last year

But they have little depth once the key players are hurt.

Mason wont be at the knights
that much im certain of

Canberra will hopefully throw in abid for him but again i cant see him there unless O'hara is resigned and has strong words to Mason (they are good mates) but my money would be on the Roosters if indeed he did leave the Dogs

I wouldn't be suprised, didn't he live around their somewhere? Wyong maybe? I remember reading something about that....

Might want to be closer to his family....or go drinking with Andrew Johns....

Well if Mason goes to the Knights then Johns, Buderus and Mason will take up most of the cap they will only have about $100 to spend on the other 22 players.

Look at ths Knights.....are they worth $3.5 million dollars?

The Knights need to stop signing reserve graders, broken down players and guys who put in one decent performance every 3 years...they need to sign some quality players.

The reason the Knights need to sign reserve graders is because the likes of Johns and Buderus are taking up 1/2 the cap on their own.

Cut Johns and the Knights will be able to sign 2-3 quality 1st graders.

Anti Tamponing comes in each year.

How else do you expect the normal 15 or so players to change clubs at 1am on the 1st of July.

Yes Mason grew up in toronto. He was a huge Chief fan and use to watch the Knights on the hill at Marathon.
