hmmmm alot of negativity

i'm only asking for the answer to why the club is saying that it doesn't have any cash left when rudimentary maths says that there should be a sizeable amount.

if it is true, i'd like to know WHY the club is in this position (and other clubs with equal rosters are not), WHAT the club is going to do about it and if they somehow end up signing a big name, WHY the lies?

and as for who is in charge... well i'm sorry but i'd take John O'Neill over Noyce anyday and if the club is aiming to be the MAN-U of the NRL, it would start with a move like that.

HarryT is about to start on some very big projects in Sydney too, hopefully the new height-limit waterboard site. If he keeps up the spending, Balmain and Wests should make him an offer

The only answer that seems to make sense about "capping out", combined with statements like "we're happy with the roster", etc, plus at least a couple of extensions and long signings, is that there must have been a bunch of upgrades. And quite substantial ones???. That is if the cap really is spent. ???

The team has played 53 games since junior burger debuted vish
The team has won 25 of those 53
We have won 3 from those 22. By my maths that means we have won 22 from 31 without the ball dropping genius in the side ... a statistical anomoly ???

There is too much tolerance of mediocrity and that is the entire problem

Agreed.

They'll be around in 2021 after shines has been with us 19 yrs, with 1 top 8 finish in that time reminding everyone that `he won us a comp in 05'. They tolerate mediocrity. One look at these tolerant beings indicate why. Tracksuit wearing, overweight, in dire need of grooming, housing commission dwelling existences ... their life is one long mediocrity

Yea I agree we tolerate your posts.

One question:

Are you happy with the club, recruitment, playing roster, recent decisions and management of WT?

Simple answer, yes or no.

It is not a simple answer. It is a multi faceted company with many things to have an opinion on. Blanket statements serve no purpose and are for Mulli and co.

C'mon Hybrid I am sure you would rather discuss the issues you have in a well thought out clear post than resort to Mullisms

So smeg, are you happy with:
- our progress since 05
- retrenchment and recruitment
- coaching decisions (including the jeffrey debacle v newcastle)
- whoring out home games which again makes it more difficult to make an 8, or a 4, and thus win a comp etc (ie potentially costing us more money that is ever going to make us)
- the defence in general
- a photoshopped penrith jersey as our home shirt

These are all valid concerns based on fact. Now if you think they are a non issue then ok. But if you think they are (and most sane, objective people would) then will you ask questions of those who we have a right to demand answers from at the appropriate forums or are you content to let it slide further with the 4 clowns in charge that have us in this present predicament

It is a simple answer -- are you happy overall, yes or no?

I don't believe anyone should be happy, and while you are correct in saying that many aspects can be broken down and debated seperately, the fact of the matter remains that things are not good.

To not be interested in Mason because "we are happy with our current roster" is just absolutely unbelieveable. Its farcical, ridiculous and borderlining on absolute stupidity.

But it is surprising? I don't believe so, not with the current management.

- Yes and no. We have made a real progress in further developing our youth but the on field I performances have been heartbreaking considering the potential. 2006 I can excuse considering our injury toll. 2007 Not so much. In saying that I have far more issue with the player attitudes in those last games of this season than anything. That is what disgusted me.

- It would have been nice to pick up a few good recruits. The fact remains that most players view our 2005 triumph as a fluke and we are not, as yet, on the top of the list of prospects. As far as retrenchings I am happy with a few aka Phats, Roberts but some are harder to take. However you cannot keep them all. Only at stage 3 alarm bells for now

- That is the only coaching decision I have ever been ropeable with during Sheens tenure with the club. It is one thing i can't fathom. It was obvious the players put the cue in the rack. Why not pull of Benji and put on someone who will at least attempt tackles?

- I have never been happy whoring out the home games. However I understand the economic sense of it. By building a strong corporate base it will help ensure the longevity of our club. If however election promises are kept and we still are wandering travellers I will be more than upset. I have already voiced my concerns to officials of the club regarding our home set up and got back a very good answer. Not a placating form letter but bare facts of the situation. I understand where you are coming from with Home Ground Advantage but the less tribal the game becomes and the more corporate it becomes the less HGA is in effect.

- I am happy with some portions of the defense. I can't make a statement about the defence in general because it really is a technical area. The patterns are as general rule solid and effective in their nature. Our problem is we have had too many weak spots to be able to hide. Only by player commitment to defence will we see that improvement. In 2005 there was almost always someone busting their arse to get in a position to cover tackle. In 2007 they stood and vished Vuna a happy journey on his way to the tryline.

_ Really like the new jerseys. That is my preference.

You see though this is what I mean. If you can discuss things without resorting to calling players spastic or poking fun at the management than your concerns seem far more prudent. You cease to be a ranting fool and start being viewed as "hey that guy has a point" Your internet persona has actually harmed alot of what you have had to say.

The attitude were allowed to fester by the coaching staff because the penalties for not playing up to scratch and turning in sub par performances saw players rarely dropped for performance. The defensive situation was noticeable from the midway point of the season. There were 3 major areas of concern:
- we cleared the ruck too quick
- we conceded 1000 offloads per game ( recall the groans every time a player was held and opped one after 5 mins in a tackle )
- sliding on our own line
All are `technical issues' visible to any mug who watches the game yet the defensive coach either a) couldn't see it b) chose not to see it or c) saw it but couldn't fix it. In each scenario it was/is inexcusable

This `corporate dollar' etc etc etc mantra the club trots out as a justification for whoring out home games is spin and propaganda. Can you tell me how many home games Man U, or juventus or milan or barcelona have whored out to a higher bidder in their existence. Home ground is sacrosanct. Win your home games and you are in the 8 with the financial trappings that brings. The decision is very short sighted and costs us in the long term when we miss the 8, aren't seen as an attractive place to play, makes recruiting harder etc etc etc

As for player attitude. If the coach couldn't get them up for that souths game then he can't get them up for anything. All to play for, packed house, fast track and he and the team bottled it. All year he threatens to wield the axe and then doesn't

You are not the only one upset on that, belive me.

As I said on the other forum I hope the 2 signings we are waiting to be announced are really quality or I think you will find alot of people very upset.

What annoys me is the fans attitude that they don't want him because of his attitude. But than say Gibbs does not share the attitude. Hypocrisy and stupidity I have come to expect from some of our base.

Especially when we have a bargaining chip like O'Hara to be used (given they were/are very keen on him) yet we are given this point blank refusal/denial that we have no interest in Mason. A good coach should be able to bring a player's attitude into line. Sheens couldn't handle O'Donnell either and look what happened there ...

O'Donnell was a slightly different kettle of fish though. I put him in the Glen Morrisson stakes of players who's souls are for sale for the right price.

As I said i am by no means happy regarding the Mason situation but to be fair I will not pass a judgement until I know who the last 2 signings actually are

Well we were promised these signings `next week' last Tuesday at the jersey launch

Tick tock tick tock tick tock

Free beer tomorrow at the wests tigers and we'll have Ronald trot out a variation to the `we thought we had him spiel' when he varies it with `we thought we had them'. A decent winger like YOungquest is not going to carry weight when it comes to having to explain why we didn't chase an elite forward with size, mongrel and leg speed - things the coach has whinged about for 3 years now

Youngquest would be a good start.

As for big forwards the only one I am truly dissapointed in not getting is O'Meley. I understand the rest as Wiki wanted to go home and Asotasi is on big money. More than we could offer
