Even some ( most ?) of the existing magpies and Balmain fans in 1999 have now moved on to the Wests Tigers … it’s a reasonable assumption to make
Younger fanbase more valuable than old fanbase from 26 years ago

Look at all the Balmain jerseys In the crowd90 cent of people at Leichhardt games were alive when Balmain was a thing?! Doubt if average age of NRL crowds is stat available somewhere but kids and people in 20's always present at games. Those are west tigers fans.
Look at all the Balmain jerseys In the crowd
Would be as many as wt jerseys
Maybe one magpie jersey
Most of the fanbase comes from Balmain area
Fair call mateNo source, but if club which has been dead since 1999 has more fans than one present in the NRL for the last 26 seasons I'd be very surprised. In any case, west tigers fans are younger and therefore will live longer so they are more valuable to the NRL, who can sell them tickets, merch, Vegas experiences for longer!!
Wouldn't Campbelltown be a better long-term region to focus on? Like relocate entirely there, including all junior development, marketing all home games there?
Lived In Burwood most of my life never was magpiesI don't think Balmain region is big enough to provide most of their base. Tigers have strong presence in Burwood and concord area which was formerly magpies. South west is also tigers territory.
Lived In Burwood most of my life never was magpies
Other than the leagues club at Ashfield wests had very little historical presence in the inner west. They gave up pratten park ages ago.
Didn’t seem to make much make in lidcombe either or Campbelltown
I’ve known a handful of magpie fans whole life
Even a club like manly has as much fans in the inner west
Wests weren’t that keen on Campbelltown to begin withThe Magpies NSW Cup team doesn’t even want to play at Campbelltown… they play at Lidcombe

Newtown had the idea first but weren’t allowed
Nswrl kicked wests out then they went to court and won and then moved out there
Crowds were bad too from memory. I wouldn’t count it as magpie area any brand that plays there now could take it
The Magpies NSW Cup team doesn’t even want to play at Campbelltown… they play at Lidcombe
It’s ripe for rugby league thoughno other team is gunna take games there either … the ground in its current set up now is not up to it
Tigers = winning influence and fansDemographics changed in the 1970's and 1980's hence magpies moving out west. Tigers definitely have presence now in Burwood and concord (they train on Parramatta Rd and you see players and coaches around the place). Balmain demo's changed a lot from 1960's onwards too.
Magpies influence.
It’s ripe for rugby league though
Massive growing population of young families
Ground would get upgraded if a club actually committed there
Tigers pay the area lip service
Tigers = winning influence and fans
Magpies = losers and no fans but rich leagues club
They always play better when they wear the black and gold jersey
Id suggest big corporate sales are going to be ltd in that region compared to the city. Easier to sell boxes and sponsorship in Sydney than in Campbelltown.Wouldn't Campbelltown be a better long-term region to focus on? Lo is getting expanded corporate facilities as part of the extension of the old grand stand at the backThere are very limited corporate seats at the ground currently to sell… that’s Richo’s problem…and why they don’t want to play there
yeh neither offer much by way of sales opportunities but I wonder even if Cambelltown had the facilities does it have the big business to be selling to? Its why the Tigers use a third modern stadium in Sydney to bring is some corporate revenue. There are very limited corporate seats at the ground currently to sell… that’s Richo’s problem…and why they don’t want to play there
