I'm feeling a bit nervous about Mason, Faataape and Da Silva all being in the squad.
I'm not at all confident we will win this one.
If we do it will be HUGE !

In my opinion they are great back-ups but they are back-ups. I wonder if Hope has been picked because they aren't confident in TDS.

I won't be reading too much about the season from this game..a bunch of WT debutants and there'll be a lot of nerves and adrenaline just running out. 2 points is the point for the first game

From memory, TDS struggled to go he whole game last season, maybe Hoe might be in the same boat OR they play different games and they want to mix it up, basically I don't know either?

I like that team a lot. I am surprised to see Faataape picked but I reckon he deserves it. Hope also deserves a shot. It's interesting they've gone with two hookers. I'm not sure if that is a comment on TDS form or on Hope's.
A bit of both. Hope has been upgraded to a development contract.

I am so nervous atm that I might be watching the game underwater as this cyclone is heading straight for us, and I can't sandbag our back door that flooded last time because I can hardly walk.
Emergency services are checking in on me tomorrow. God bless them for their unwavering volunteer work.
Anyway, go the Tigers.

Considering the few injuries, no real surprises, probably the best we could field.

Seven recruits will make their Wests Tigers debuts in the match, including new co-captain Jarome Luai.

Bring it on.
Douehi at left centre worries me. Hopefully he’ll do the job.

Faataape was easily our best centre during the trials, others not even close

I think we’re light on in the centres, but Skelton looked better in the last trial. I’m hoping that Skelton and Turuva will lay a good foundation with their kick returns and hopefully they’ll finish a few at the other end, other than Doeuhi (who had some ok games at left, but also some shockers in defence) and Mason (playing out of positions) I reckon we have a fair backline. I’d have probably thrown Bird in at left centre but he is an ace on the bench. Faataape was reasonably impressive during the trials (given he was playing against boys) hopefully he’ll carry into the comp

Gagai and Best will destroy our centres.
TBF, we could have the best centres on the planet and Gagai would score two tries against us.

I note @Vic Mackey comments, I've never been happy with Mason, does Staines play FB?
Our wingers look OK, and the centres are not up to the Knights standards, but both had reasonable trials, so we'll see, there defense will be tested.
I think we will have them in the halves and finally have some pretty decent forwards to assist.

Sorry to hear about the impending cyclone and your issues with walking.

Take care of yourself. Personally I have a red walker I named 'Annie'.....she is my best friend.

Mason is sus under the high ball. He's a ½ thru and thru. I think it's unfair on him to be thrown into a position that makes or breaks a side but he'll be happy just to play in the NRL.
I think we'll try a few crash balls with Pole and Big red then Fainu and our halves will attack the left side in particular.
The only way to beat Newcastle is to have more ball than them, deny them easy possession.
