Benji’s key instruction to superstar recruit

“There’s no pressure on them to be the greatest in the competition in round one. We want them to do their jobs, keep it simple, and play the footy we want to play.
--------------------
Ahm, NO Benji, we want early success, FFS.
You don’t think there’s enough pressure on them already?

I'm a bit worried about this game. No Api or Bula. A lot of inexperience across the park. I think Knights might get one over us if they play to their edges. I can see Best having a blinder.

However there is something about the way May and Pole played in that trial that gives me hope. If they are able to punch out stupid metres and give Luai a platform to work off then it could be a high scoring affair in which we come out on top.

I think Skelton is the dark horse for this one. I can see Luai shitting everyone up and putting him over the line more than once

Pretty good analysis Jimbo.
I wish I had your enthusiasm as far as us scoring big points. Maybe the difference of Luai’s influence could result in more points.
People often say it's only a trial/s but the way our backs in particular defended out wide is a reflection on club defensive culture and the way the players are coached.
I'll reserve my judgement until about rd 5 because we have not stated emphatically that our defensive horrors have been addressed.
Morris should have been sacked, or at least we should have got him a powerhouse defensive assistant.
Instead, we got another one of Benji's mates, as attacking fullback with a shite, short coaching history.
I saw so many errors in the trials that are repeats of the last 3 years and needs to be fixed....let's hope they are switched on from the get go because as mentioned so many times by me and others, Newcastle elete backs will shed us apart.

I don’t think anyone can predict what’s going to happen with this game even the experts like me..At times Api and Bula can both be very dissapointing so their replacements arnt a worry for me..
We have So many unknowns within this group of players and yet so many guns at the same time..I’d say Newcastle would be somewhat worried..Hope could become undroppable..And turn out to be the real leader we needed..There’s potential for carnage to be inflicted by our backs? The forwards could be unstoppable? Who knows There is potential for a wt ambush I’m hoping that’ll be the case.. I don’t think we will need to wait untill round 5 to know how the team and how Benji will go.. We may know by half time…good or bad

I'm just happy to have live footy back again. I'm pumped to see how the new recruits play and am hopeful for a win, but I'm not going in expecting a huge turnaround from learned losing over the past 5 years. Lack of Korisau is going to be a concern but I think TDS/Hope can cover and if they buy in on-field with the effort mantra they push off it, we could be happy with the performance.

I think a man of the match performance from May could get the Tigers home.
If he can produce those stats of his second trial then the rest of the forwards will follow.
Luai and Galvin can only do so much with a forward pack not dominating.

Harsh, mate.

It was a good story.

Chris who?

I don’t mind some brief sentimentalism, but ffs only after we’ve earned it.

Instead we get an episode of Benjis (up the) Creek (without a paddle).

Benji, please don’t set yourself up as the man with a lousy 25% success rate.

Prove you can coach before you start on with this nonsense.

I’m happy for the kid, but throwing a jersey at him and telling him he’s playing should be enough for him after all his legend hard work.

If he’s going good, you don’t need to pump up his tyres too much and broadcast it

It’s a very high achievement and the kid needs to own all of it in his own way.

Well it’s the cumulation of what, 15 plus years of intense personal struggle, sacrifices and enormous hard work.

He well understands it’s significance, without us having to brazenly exploit it to look cool.

And if he plays badly, it’s going to be a horror clip, like a Tim Sheens interview.

I can be criticised for being harsh, but it’s the clubs fault I’ve turned brutal. Especially us members, we are all ‘ken pathological at this point.

Good win for Madge tonight, massive statement about his capabilities.

After watching Pt 2 of the torture camp, I thought Benji spoke well.
His talk to the leadership group was spot on, which resulted in them winning the last challenge.
I think it made the team overall stronger mentally too, and some found a voice, which is so important on the footy field... Everyone needs to communicate, especially in D.

Mate coaching starts exactly how he has started. Every coach like Bellamy, Bennett and co started from scratch.
It's not what he's done so far, it's how he moves forward and improves.
With the number of young players in our top 30 and others like Makasini, I think it's good to have a coach like Benji.
I'm more concerned about D. I think he needs help in this area, but we won't know until later in the season if they have done their homework, but I'm not convinced.

Yeah, I really enjoyed your trial insights and the reasoning and see you’ve been hitting some pretty high notes lately.

At least you’re ready for the season!

I can’t happy clap for Benji until I see something, including your beloved D.

The more conservative assessments rate us us a 40% better side this year.

The Broncos halves really tore it up tonight, good omen for us I Hope!

Big game tonight, I’m pretty excited.

Cover D needs to be right as I know you’re thinking about brother. Busy and mobile.
