So he's on the ball
he is, I watched the game again late last night after a mate said to watch Naiqama and Brooks and how their defence has improved. With Brooks except for the late try, he was excellent. Naiqama has improved out of sight in both defence and attack. So IC has addressed their weakness, Tui was terrible yesterday except for the long pass.

Our overall defence is miles improved but the last tackle options were extremely poor. When you look at our tries, none of them were really from set plays. That Lolo pass had Benji written all over it but we all know that week in week out footy those kind of plays don't win games.

I hate to be such a negative nancy but I'm really worried about next year. We have assembled a great team that will match it with the best but it's our spine that I don't think will get us near the top 8. I hope a complete off season under Cleary will change that but if not then we need a back up plan

Jim - I agree that our spine is the issue for next season but we will have to see how they go. Maybe Tui, Brooks and Liddle will kick on. We need at least one of them to turn into a top quality player.

I think we will have a decent team next year and it will be something to build on.

Our spine is a major concern !!

Yes we've recruited well & have a very good squad but our spine is sub-standard & clearly one of the weakest spines in the NRL in '18 !

I have some faith in Tui & Liddle but none in Brooks. He isn't a playmakers arsehole & without a quality organiser at the scrum base we can forget finals footy !

Brooks was a good organiser though earlier in his career and in junior footy. It's in there somewhere.

My only hope is that JT messed with his natural game so bad that's it's taking him a while to recover. Let's not forget he trained the whole off season with Moses and JT as coach. Then he's had Lolo come in from nowhere. And as dangerous a ball runner I think Lolo is, he's not a play makers arsehole. He offers zero support in organising, control or play making.

We just need to have faith that with an offseason with Reynolds and Ivan that he'll have a defined role and he'll shine. Perhaps it's blind optimism, but I'm actually really confident Brooks will star next year.

Although our spine is untested and could appear a bit flaky. They actually have the potential to be a really good long term unit. If they all play to their potential, they're really well balanced. But that balance all hinges on Brooks rediscovering how to organise and control a game.

Who knows, maybe IC is just looking to shore up defence in the meantime and make sure the team has the ability to close out points, and will work on 5th tackle and play making in the off season when he's established whom is playing where.

The bloke isn't stupid so far he's the only one to really get the Warriors to compete consistently over a few seasons, something no one else has managed to do.
