That was about as good as we could hope for I reckon. Penrith full strength and we were missing Laurie & Doueihi

stefano just about the best player on the park in a losing team.

Special mention to Michaele...he was tireless and really put in defensively. It was no Rnd 1 revenge win for the pinkers....it was back to Plan A ...give it to kikau. A similar effort next week is all i want to see now.

They were great the first 30 and last 15.
The 35 inbetween was where all the damage was done and they were dogshit….arm grabbing, disorganised attack, back-pedalling defence and no muscle.
Some good signs but all in all pretty shit.

A much better effort. The team lost its way when Seyfarth went off, but didn't capitulate as they have done in other games.

Going to be all the more frustrating when they go down to the Dogs next week.

Stefano is an absolute weapon. I was very pleased with the effort today, and even more excited that Mbye is finally gone after next week.

That said, Bulldogs will probably get us next week

Just as a side note,
Nathan Cleary was aweful today. He played his worst game in at least 2 years. That said, he beat Luke in all the key area stats.
Additionally, Brooks missed 10 tackles.
Get this merkin out of here please someone….

On paper we should have been garrotted plus they were coming into the game in white hot form.

Madge got our second tier pumping. He can do it then, but not it seems every week.

But it’s that old cliche but we were our own worst enemies for much of the game. Just basics.

I see MCK is getting some game time, but so far as I know, unsigned for 22.

Lucy said after the game that he was looking forward to the pre season and next year. He’s quite the character.

The dogs are showing something, but they should be pretty nervous if we maintain the rage.

What are you watching. Cleary had a forward pack clearly outpointing ours. Sure Brookes at times is a conundrum. You say missed 10 tackles...Its not's his priority job to tackle. How many did Cleary miss or hide from???

The Brooks supporters hang their hats on his ability to defend and his running game, when he can be bothered.
Today, 10 missed tackles and 2 runs for 17m. They are stats from the strongest parts of his game.

There is hope. Now is the time to reinforce stability. Cant you see it??m
What is the hope?
We have a couple of young blokes years away from being consistent performers, Doueihi has done his knee again, Laurie busted leg (hopefully doesn’t affect his speed), we’ve signed a centre the poms can’t wait to get rid of and a half, who even though is a reasonable talent, is a team disruptor that we may not even be planning on playing in the halves. We have no strike attack in the backs and no forward leader.

The players clearly do not listen to the coach as evidenced again today - unless of course he told them at half time to do the exact opposite of everything they were doing in the first 40?

I’ve heard this song so many times, I now use it to get the dog to take a dump outside.

Today was our second string side having a f**king go against an unbelievable gf team, in white hot form, dripping with marquee talent.

What more f**king hope does he want?!

Ffs, grinch.

At least @Tiger05 got a sniff it was coming.

Lol Phantom, I read your post just to see what your take was. It was just as expected.

Couple of points;
1. We only had a go for roughly 45 minutes. The rest of the time we were a shambles who they easily scored against. I’ll remind you that a game of RL is 80 minutes long at a minimum.
2. Penrith we’re not in “white hot form” at all. They were clunky and mistake riddled. They were encouraged they played poorly and still won well.
3. Even though we had a go today, we still let in 30 points. You are going to win bugger all games having to chase that many.
4. You have not provided any reason to be hopeful for next year.
5. If you want to debate this, don’t sneak about bad mouthing someone who’s not reading your dribble. Man up, say it now and I’ll discuss your points.

I think that we put in for the 80, issue for the 20 odd minutes where Penrith got a roll was that we just aren’t very good. By my reckoning we have 3 players who would be considered ‘good/very good first graders’ Laurie, Doeuihi and Stefano. 2 of them were out today, up against a full strength top 2 side. With that guys like Tamou, Garner, Musgrove, Kepeoa were out. These guys might not be great but we’re all injured whilst playing NRL, so make our full strength side. We had 39% possession at the 60min mark and a 5-0 penalty count against until we got our first with 9 mins to go. To go with this we also lost 2 guys to injury during the game.

I agree Penrith were off however Our on line defence was very good for the most part, and I don’t think the 5 tries were they scored were through a lack of effort on our part.

It’s too late for a fight, I’ve been too busy de-smugging on the Panthers forum after you clocked off.

“ Make a contribution to society” you told that poster. I had a half baked whinge at you.

1. It’s not like we didn’t have a go, we just dropped a bunch of passes. We had a go, because we fought back and coming after them- late in the game. That was unusual. I was frothing at the mouth. We only lost composure for 15 minutes instead of the usual 50 minutes.

2. they came into the game after ripping Souths a new one. Souths just put 50 plus on the roosters. They were the form team of the comp coming into the game against our third tier side. Mck is threat right?

3. Vlandy ball is touch footy. 30 points is probably standard these days. You’re back in 2007

4. I quoted Lucy. New players, plenty of signings to come and Madges tenure still looking shaky and doubtful.

5. You’re the weak willed one who put me on ignore. If I’ve had a go at you, I’ve also liked your odd post. Felt ill at the time but I paid up.

I haven’t seen you over there giving them crap after the game like me. I don’t wanna go too hard because I am hard at it recruiting some of them to change club allegiances next year.

They start off with a burner account here and chug forum beers with us for awhile, enjoy themselves

They are doomed this year and a couple of the lu crew will be unhappy with more Ivan errors of judgment. Then they are vulnerable and we move in.

Get on board, “make a contribution to society” That was cruel…

Our on line defence was very good for the most part, and I don’t think the 5 tries were they scored were through a lack of effort on our part.
Really? They got around us and through us quite easily.
8 line breaks, 37 tackle busts and 625 post contact meters tells me our defence was poor. The scramble was good but you can’t rely on that. They bombed a lot of tries due in part to this scramble and in part to their rustiness (16 errors).
Anyway, looking at the tries and the teams efforts to prevent them;

Try 1 = Leota caught a lucky bounce. I think we had it covered until the deviation off the post. Shit happens with a football.
Try 2 = Tevita ran through soft as puppy shit defence up the middle. That was a horrible effort from those involved. Liddle tried to steal the ball and they all let go of him. Not first grade standard defence.
Try 3 = Typically poor goal line defence from us allows Luai to stroll through three defenders and score with minimal hands laid on him. Our line was staggered and communication non existent.
Try 4 = Kikau strolls through our rigid right side defence and easily steps the fullback. We’ve seen this try scored against this team 30+ times this year and still can’t anticipate nor stop it.
Try 5 = Simple scrumbase play with lock playing extra man for a huge overlap and simple try to To’o. It was aweful defensive reading, a staggered line again and far too slow. Poor effort from our mighty right side.

Gotta say I disagree with you Vic, those 4 last tries were scored against a side whose effort levels had dropped off for a considerable period of time. They were weak and Penrith scored them easily.

“ rustiness” ??! Did you see their second half v Souths? Obviously not.

Stef was running riot today and Cleary getting nervous facing us and making mistakes. Plus he’s injured.

It was our second or third tier team Stryker- puss. You seem to have forget that. They were entitled to put 70 on us.

So much for their Storm “for and against chase” they were boasting on getting.

Anyway some of us unlucky authorised worker dipsticks have to get hassled by the f**king army on the way to work tomorrow here in Sydney. What a joke. Feel like a terrorist. I’ll have to throw the rocket launcher in the back seat.

And stop being miserable you merkin.
