Last night we lost to the BEST team in the comp. We were without Hindmarsh and Reddy.
What stands out for me is that Reddy was very badly missed. He is the best defensive centre in the club. Well, actually, he`s the best centre full stop. His absence in last years grand final led to a Melbourne try and in last night`s game probably led to a couple of tries at least.
Hindmarsh? He`s like Fittler used to be for Easts - just can`t win without him. His defensive input is immeasurable. His over-all attitude and the confidence he brings to the team can`t be quantified. And lately, he`s been the man to spark all our second-phase off-loading style. All in all, it`s not surprising we lost.
Having said that, I think we have no major problems. We`ll beat Melbourne next week. And I still think we can have a real shot in the semi`s. We probably won`t win the premiership this year (Boo-Hoo :roll
, but we will give it a shake.
I`d only make two changes - Reddy for Inu and Humble for K. Keating.
I think Mortimer is improving. I think Kris Keating is not. He might improve with time; but I don`t know if we have the time that it will take.
Oh, and by the way; I voiced my reservations over signing Timana Tahu from the very beginning - but the 'experts' knew better. He really has to temper his game. He`s nowhere near being dropped, but he needs to improve.
