FELETI Mateo is determined to remind Parramatta powerbrokers what they are losing at season's end as the Eels continue their late-season surge.
The blue and gold army are already bemoaning the fact that Mateo will be a Warrior in 2011, given that his form over the past month has been as good as superstar teammate Jarryd Hayne.
While Eels officials told Mateo they could not match his asking price because of salary cap restraints, the club has since tabled a $500,000-a-season deal for Wallaby Quade Cooper.
Parramatta junior Mateo was initially disappointed to be leaving but now only wants to focus on Wests Tigers in front of a packed house on Sunday and the drive towards the finals.
"What's done is done now, I'm not here next year so good luck to them," Mateo said as he returned from a four-day freshen-up yesterday.
Start of sidebar.
"I just want to concentrate on this year and hopefully win the title.
"It's always sweet to play good ... the fans are all that matter and they may ask, 'Why did you let him go?', so all you can do is play well and the rest takes care of itself."
He has been lethal in attack and his offloads will be watched by the Tigers.
Mateo's form was not lost on teammate Luke Burt, who said: "Feleti has been pretty awesome, and last Friday night [during the 30-14 win over Brisbane] he looked that hard to tackle."
In a welcome sight, winger Eric Grothe joined in his first skills session yesterday for the first time since he hobbled off during the round-15 Knights clash with a knee problem.
