I agree Edwahu. It is just that time that players are late in their careers and looking elsewhere to grab as much cash as possible.

What I enjoyed most about this thread is that it was started by someone who wholeheartedly agreed with Tokyo the other day that there are too many speculative posts. Talk about the pot and the kettle.

Oh the irony of it all

Ah-hem, it was about too many critical posts, and the incessent bagging from the same folks over and over and over and over about the same things/people over and over and over and over...:p

When I opened up this thread I had suspicions it might be a joke ... now I'm certain.

Mogg leaving and a rumours of a few others leaving and all of a sudden Elliott is a "powerful man".

Yea ... suppose Rubes, macca, Finchy, Monas, Lolesi and a number of others got the early mail and decided to part company "before it was too late" LOL

C'mon guys, drawing a long one here arent we.

What I'd like to know is why a number of players signed to long term contracts earlier in the season when, I can tell you now, they knew of Elliott's departure, Neil Henry's signing and the very strong possibility of another coach entering the scene.

Are we as well coached as some of the experts say ?? ... I think results would indicate not.

Give us the slightest bit of evidence that they knew he was leaving when they signed.

Keep trying Tokyo...

at the end of the day, despite a lack of results (no finals wins in his five years here), Elliott is a popular coach and there are plenty of people in our FG squad who have only had him as their FG coach.

Of course Elliott is a powerful man. He is the coach of an NRL side and his selection decisions can ignite (or break) careers.

However I think Mogg's (and Germ's departure) is more 'management' related than coach-related... time to clean the players out, get the great young talent in and move forward.

I'm all for a player clean out Thickos, but why Germ and Mogg? These guys are two of our better players. ANd who have we signed or rumoured to have signed? Nobody.
A cleanout is good but only if the right guys are cleaned out and the right ones bought have to be better or we've gained nothing but a side that lacks cohesion. If i had my way, it certainly wouldn't be Germ that would be leaving...

Not legally anyway...;-) I think we all know that most deals are organised and the players have a good idea who's interested in who anyway. I wonder if we are looking at the UK? When does Fieldon become available? And i hear Sean Long is coming to the NRL.

I don't wanna get angry, i would dearly love to sign some really top notch players, not rejects and cast offs...please somebody good!!!!

Yeah, I agree it's frustrating, but then I look back at who we picked up last year (Thurling and TLL) and it proves the big names are not always the best.

Having said that, I still don't know where we're getting 7 or 8 new players to replace those leaving.

I have it on good authority Fielden has been offered a food stall at Canberra Stadium after he retires if he signs with us. This being the case Fielden has asked for an early release from the Bulls. However, the Bulls will only release him if we trade Terry Martin.

Herbert, that's still more believable than Bay56's "Henry signed for 3 but Ricky to coach in 2008" rumour.
