He does whats needed, not outstanding but not terrible either, Solid player who in a few years may find himself at lock.

Another thing is that he appears to lack confidence. He used to go for that dummy and run all the time. I cant remember his last attempt to be honest.

Far superior to Ridell et al. Great tackler, and can be a good selective kicker.

My concern is that he has a tendency to go sideways too much, especially when going himself. If he then pushes the ball he can cramp our attack too laterally.

We, and him, have been far more successful playing direct. His best runs have been when he gets in behind the ruck, rather than trying to go around the markers and push wide.

IMO that is the aspect of his game that Kingston does much better. If Kingston goes wide, it is with a flat ball. If MK goes wide, he tends to run across field, then push the ball further across. That can cause problems. They are quite a good combination in that sense.

Like everyone in the team, he is playing much better this last 6-8 weeks. Not a superstar, but you can't have them in every position.

Has a good attitude and is a good team man.

I would like to think DA would be too smart to go into a prelim final without Mateo over lowrie as a lock and KK over robson as a half?

Yeah, you're probably right - about Mateo, anyway. Geez, I dunno about the halves, though. Might sound silly, but I think Robson's got more of a level head than Keating. I might prefer Robson in a semi. Mortimer, on the other hand, might get nervous.

I personally rate him thought he played pretty well on the weekend don't know why u parra fans bag him so much hes only pretty young

Probably the hardest player to rate in parra's squad. Matt came into the side at a very hard period. He has undoubtably much more untapped potential which I don't think he has even discovered. Vision is a gifted talent which you can't really develop or atleast develop overnight. I would like to see him improve his choice of passing game i.e when to run and when to pass and especially which side of the ruck to attack. Having a dud halfback is often the hookers down fall because if the half doesn't take ownership on the plays the hooker can be left stranded. It's no coincidence that Matt has excelled with Robo and Morts at the helm. He'll no doubt get better with experience.
2010 will be a big year for Matt who will need to improve with a fast tracking Anthony Mitchell breathing down his jersey!

Everyone on this forum was whingeing last year because they thought the reason Fui's form was down was because Riddell kept giving him poor service out of dummy half and we missed PJ. Now Fui's back in great form, but there's no credit to Keating because of it.

We won the 86 Grand Final with Michael Moseley at hooker. He too was solid without being brilliant.
Ive got no problems with Matt Keating... as mentioned above... you cannot have a team full of Jarryd Haynes
