[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica] I decided to walk to narrabean and see if there was any truth, cameras everywhere.

It was the Golden Handshake that will have the other 14 teams green with envy. Outside Manly Headquarters in front of a large gathering of press, saw the handshake between Des ‘sorry’ Hasler and Mat Orford come together. It may have been a friendly handshake but we all know what is going on. 2006 will see one of the Northern eagles finest product, when their own prodigal son completes his circle of life and is welcomed back to Brookvale Oval.

You had to be at the complex to witness the feeling, it was something like coming out of a movie. Orford flew up from Melbourne early this morning and arrived at narrabean where Manly put forward what is rumoured to be a 400k a season for 4 years contract, a take it or leave it offer. Orford wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to be screwed over again so he wanted to see all the players at the new complex and make sure he was going to be looked after.

Yeah he flew up from Melbourne yesterday...despite the fact he never left after Saturdays game.

I'll believe it when it's official

The post is better explained (without all the romantic notions) as this guy going to Manly training today and seeing Orford there meeting the players and shaking Dessies hand

essentially it means very little as i'm sure he has also gone and checked out souths facilities

That could be the problem. If he has been to Souths leagues and seen the bar staff he probably asked Manly where he could sign.
Fingers crossed for Souths though.

Would Narrabeen crap allover Coogee or Maroubra? I don't think so Tim.

I was thinking the same thing. Still, it looks more and more likely that Orford will go back, I don't see why he would want to....they treated him like crap last time.

NO it wouldn't but, cmon mate. I'm a as big as Souths fan out there. But surely the state of the Leagues club staff and surroundings have something to do with the decisions they make.
We've had a transexual behind the bar at Souths for 100 years and then the good looken one with no teeth starts.

I really don't think it's going to make a difference...

2UE radio has reported that the Many Sea Eagles have made an official offer to Melbourne Storm halfback Matt Orford on Tuesday afternoon.

Orford is believed to have been offered a rich deal to return to Brookvale Oval for the first time since his debut days as a Northern Eagle in the now-defunct merger.

South Sydney and Melbourne are the only other clubs said to be in the market for the classy number seven.

The belief is that should Orford choose the Sea Eagles, current halfback and skipper Michael Monaghan will return to the role he occupied part-time at Canberra, as a hooker.

environment + dollars make a big difference. Living on the peninsula would be very tempting to orford. Manly havea good pack and can challenge the next 2-3 yrs.
Souths will consider making the 8 as a GF win

Living in Maroubra and Coogee is as good as Narrabeen, Dee Why or Manly.

If Souths can match the $, there goes the environment + dollars argument.

fair point, Coogee is nice. But then you have to look at the chance to win a comp. Souths are not going to win a comp the next 5 yrs. Orford aint 21 yrs of age. I just think manly appeals more, plus Lyon will be there 2007

IMHO Orford's chance to win a comp at Melbourne is as good as either Manly or Souths. And if Souths sign Bell and Anasta as well, their squad will be frightingly talented.

Orford, Bell, Anasta and perhaps Lowe will make a huge difference to our team.
