Hi Guys;

Bellamy stated last night at the Storm Awards dinner that they have signed Maurice Blair ??.

Any good and what is his background ??.

Looks like a fan of KFC though ??.

Cheers

Yeah the hamburgler will be a great pick up for the local eateries of Melbourne. I hope you guys have taken advantage of the new 3rd party sponsorship concessions and topped up his contract with some maccas vouchers, would definitely help you stay under the cap.

Seriously though, the guy is a good pickup. He's been a bit overweight for the last couple years but if he can get on top of that he has a lot of talent. Versatility also as he can play centre, 5/8, second row and even spent some time at dummy half for us.

As a player he is very aggresive and will lay on some massive hits and has an excellent long kicking game. He was in the Maroons train on squad in 2008 as a utility option when he was a regular at right centre for us. Most Panthers would probably be divided in seeing him go as he really hasn't done much for the last 2 years but I would have liked to see him go around again as he can bring a lot at full fitness.

If he really puts in on the training paddock in the off season he could be a very useful pickup. He is versatile and can play centre, five eighth and in the back row. Has figured at all for us in 2010 which is disappointing be it is obvious he was out of favour and needed to move on to reestablish himself in the NRL. Could be a very useful pickup if he has the right attitude.

He will get the right attitude under Bellamy...

I'm sad to see him go. He is far better than those useless hacks Purtell & Burns.

Very aggressive defender with a great kicking game and can run the ball effectively. He will be your 5/8th. I'm sure Bellamy can do with him what Elliot the spaz couldn't.

played all my junior footy with bobby blair amd he was never the one most likely to play nrl. thought it might have been all over for him considering he didnt get run all year for the panthers. fingers crossed he can make it down in melbourne.

Blair is a blockbusting centre in the mould of Brad Izzard. He can bust a tackle and hits hard in defence. He hasn't got the greatest passing game, but he can still pop a ball with a couple of defenders around him.

Discipline has been his problem. Even carrying a few extra kg's he is twice the player that Purtell is and yet Elliott leaves him at Windsor every week.

Melbourne have a history of turning train wrecks into champions, who are then worth much more money. This is why they have salary cap issues. Can they do the same to Bobby Blair? He played some good footy for Penrith but unsighted in firsts for a couple of years now.

I forgot to mention that he would be about 6'2" tall, 105kgs, and would run sub 12 seconds for the 100m. Has a pretty handy left foot kick in general play. Can probably fill wing, centre, 5/8th, lock and 2nd row.

Under Bellamy he will be better than Inglis, KFC vouchers aren't part of the salary cap so you guys are laughing. Seriously though with the right attitude he could be a gun.

I have no doubt Bellamy will address Blairs discipline issues and turn him into a better footballer as he has a proven track record of turning players fortunes around. He will be a very handy pickup for the Storm and will certainly figure in the top 17 on more occasions than he has done with the Panthers this season.
