McCrone is the worst halfback in the comp

Have to agree I'm afraid....we had enough ball up to the 50 minute mark as Cronulla were woeful we should have lead by 20...I started to have doubts at half time because with the error riddled Sharks we only lead by 2 ...but that aside we invited them right back into the contest with unbelievable bad kicks by McCrone...and the annoying part he didn't learn he just kept doing it ....I bet their coach will go and put the lotto on because he knows they got out of jail .....I'm a big Nightie fan but some of his kicking options were very ordinary
We had 92% completion rate vs 50%, ran for more meters, made less errors, conceded less penalties...and still lost the game.
You cannot win tight games without a competent game manager.
It's games like tonight when I really feel for Hutch. He would have done the job, behind our pack of forwards, standing on his head.
Without signaling out McCrone, we need someone with a decent kicking game.

His kicking game was pretty woeful - decision making and execution wise.

What stumped me though was that the ball kept going his way for the kick until late in the 2nd half where I vaguely remember Field putting in a kick.

I just can't fathom that no one else was capable of putting in a kick for that much of the game.

McCrone's positioning is bizarre as well. He has this obsession with kicking from a 10 metre blind side, where the ball can only go one place.

And I don't agree with 'partnering with Widdop suits him'

All our good go forward & Widdop's good form has done is cover up how inept he is as a footballer. We are winning in spite of him, not because of.

I understand your frustration but he plays a good role when Widdop is on the field and is part of the reason Widdop is playing so well this year so you kinda have to take the good with the bad. If Mann could show a little more dominance in his roll maybe he'd be a genuine contender for the 7 jersey when Wids comes back but I don't think he's convinced anyone yet. Great to see Field get some game time, would love for him to get a real shot at 7 but again if the McCrone / Widdop combo is working, be a bit silly to f**k with it.
Mann has never been given a real chance to show is worth in the halves. Everything McCrone does, Mann would do much better if given the chance. How many times was Mann given the ball on the last tackle to take a kick?

Mary has given his instructions and McInnes has to follow.

Field was rubbish he did nothing can't tackle had one little dart and that was it come on how can u say he out classed McCrone
He is a MIllward favourite. He may turn out to be a star but definitely not ready for selection in the first grade halves. Mary should have switched him back to fullback, Mann staying at 6 and Nightingale back on the right wing with Macdonald on the left wing. We need to plug the leakage on the right edge.

I Believe in team managment, thats what the coaching staff is meant to be ding on the sidelines watching the game !!!! We have messenger that pretty much stay on the field they are practically the 14th player !!! SO TELL ME WHAT DO THEY DO ??? If im coach this is what i see .... McCrone's kicking is off PLUS he is playing with the thoughts that it's all up to him .... every 5th tackle he has 24 players on him and it's obvious he ca'nt cope .... my message - I know Mcinnes can kick .... do it kick from dummy half.... put the defense in doubt. Run it on the 5th again keep them guessing ... this allows more time for McCrone when the defense isn't sure. 2nd message - when we have momentum we dont always have to bomb .... play the grubber behind the defense get a repeat set keep the pressure on ... hey they did it a few times. Not always McCrone bomb to McDonald !! Especially when McDonald has already jumped, landed and somersaulted before the ball has even arrived ... RUBBISH. Field comes on ... give him a kick or Mann ... they don't have to kick brilliantly we just need the other team in 2 or 3 minds and guessing ..... who's gonna kick McInnes form half ??? McCrone on the left ??? Field / Mann on the right ??? or will they maybe run it ???? this gives everyone more time !!!!!! NOT THTA HARD I THINK.

Let's not blame McCrone for it all ..... it's hard to have to call the last play on your own with no support and he has never really been a main playmaker he is nowhere near as steady and assertive under pressure as what Widdop is. But remember he does take a few last plays when Widdop is there again so that to keep the defense alert and guessing.
He is a support player who know has to play on HIS OWN with no SUPPORT !!!!
Sharks last night had Maloney, Braiden, Wade (a backrower for gods sake) and Townsed all taking last plays !!!
And we were always waiting and hesitant and guessing as to where they would go ... but yet we had the same last play 9 times out of 10 !!!!! GEE that hard to work out and shut down if im the the other team ...

Mate Mary knows....hence the Hunt.
