Nicholson, is a quick fix but to old for a future long term replacement IMO.

BTW McGrath took 4/30 in the 2nd innings to finish with match figures of 6/56.

NOt a bad return :D

Understatement alert Earl. ;-)

McGrath, by all accounts, is back...bigger and better than ever. From what I'm reading, his control is back to the standard he had 12 months before his injury.

Let's face it, his form in the lead up to his injury wasn't the standard we're used to. While he was in no real danger of being dropped, there was a suggestion he was on the decline.

The Second XI match against Victoria will serve a number of purposes for McGrath - match fitness, a match test to see if he is capable, self-confidence again etc etc. But more important is that it gives him a chance to be the number one bowler again. His presence in a 2nd XI match is both unusual and also a chance for him to be a senior player, taking control of the innings. NSW won by 8 or 9 wickets in the end, thanks largely to two wonderful bowling performances by McGrath.

He is looking mean - I for one cannot wait for his return to international level.
