The hit was late and deliberate sure but a " dog act " ?
You listen to ch9 you can't expect too much in the way of professional commentary. Most of the ex players should save their opinions for half time or short comments in stoppage time and let the real game callers do their stuff while the play is on.
I was pissed off that for the 10 minutes following that they stopped calling the game, in fact most games they spend too much time talking sh*t instead of calling the game.

As for bias, it happens with most call teams in most games but yeah ch 9 are among the worst, again mostly the ex players and their love affair with the shiny teams and players.

Except for Gasnier, he could never be identified as being bias towards the Dragons. He goes out of his way to do the opposite.

Still can't forget the days of Rabs losing his load every time Tallis took up the ball...even when it was just a 4 metre run....
My favourite Rabs commentary was the night Daniel Holdsworth made his first grade debut for us. Holdsworth had made a half-break and was looking for a runner which in Rabs-speak came out as "Holdsworth looks desperate to have a man inside him".
Keep your mind on the game, Rabs.
As for commentators I don't like : Warren Smith and Danny Buderus top the list.
Media darling : Currently the worst "offender" is Kalyn Ponga. He's a better than average player, but the hype around him is such that I gag every time I hear his name now.

I have no problems with them having favourites but it drives me insane when the usual suspects such as GI, S Burgess, Cronk, Smith, Tedesco, Cleary, Maloney, RCG, Ponga, Brooks etc get the ball & the commentators raise their voices to a new level. And should they make a mistake or have an ordinary game the excuses fly left right & centre.

Any reference to the Ch 9 coverage gets me going. I don't have Pay TV so have no alternative to 9. But this year I left the country after Rd 2 so now have the Fox coverage on Watch NRL. Much happier. Was also out of the country a number of months last year and was absolutely disgusted when Watch NRL had 9's Origin coverage.

Surprised there are no posts referring to Pompous Phil, the Great Gus Gould. Know-it-all personified. If he states something in the first half that comes to fruition later in the game he quickly reminds you that 'as I told you.... ' His annoying belief that making a statenent twice adds value to it. He has also contributed to the decline of the English language in our country. He was the first to introduce the use of "back" as an adjective. "Back field" first. Then came back "back end" of the game or "back end" of the season instead of end. "Back - to - back" replaced successive. Talk about dumping things down!

In general I can't stand the way stars will not be criticised. Anyone remember Inglis wiping out Dean Young? All Slater's and Smith's niggling dirty tactics? Cronk being sinbinned at Kogarah and taking 6-7 mins to reach the sideline. Not gamesmanship but straight out cheating or unsporting behaviour! These are things that the old boy commentators refuse to criticise. But here perhaps Fox is no better.

So pleased 9 lost the cricket. Just sorry that Michael Slater got a gig, otherwise a completely refreshing coverage on 7. Old, tired, boring voices. We need similar change in footy. On this point can anyone tell me why Rabs is still employed into his 70s?
