Does The Herald Sun or any Vic papers have a fulltime league writer dedicated to Melbourne Storm ??

Do you guys think a magazine dedicated solely to Melbourne Storm once a month would be popular reading material in Melbourne.

At first I didn't think Melbourne was a good idea because they didn't have the infrastructure there but I now firmly believe they need to exist and prosper and was just curious as to what sort of journalism they recieved down there.

The local Melbourne paper, the Herald Sun, has articles on Melbourne Storm most days during the season with at least a one page spread on the Friday.

This year the writer is a guy who was from Sydney, his name is Karl deKroo. He writes a lot of the Storm & NRL articles in that paper, which is owned by News Ltd, Storm's owner.

I've been told that yesterday's paper featured a full page dedicated to the Storm including an article by the players imploring Stephen Kearney to stay on next year.

The other Melbourne paper, The Age, only seems to have NRL articles when it's something bad. Except for maybe a very brief note saying "Storm won on the weekend".

I hate the Age, its so friggin big you need whole table to read the stinkin thing. The sun outsell Age by a fair amount.
As regards the Sun there coverage of Storm is pretty darn good,
compared to the Sydney and Brisbane's papers I way prefer the Sun over them both. I find the Sun's style much better to read.
The big con with the Sun is that its plastered with Afl news every day.
Here's a fact for you, there were more articles in the Sun about the Wayne Carey incident then 9/11.

Because that tabloid appeals to the lowest common denomenator and is also cheaper. Hence why so many plebs by it. I'd argue that the ratio is anywhere near that severe anyway.

The Herald Sun is a paper for miscretants! They put 'exclusives' on the front cover (like Paul Denyer's sex change) and are only exclusives coz the Age and the Australian don't see fit to put em on the front page coz they are SHIT pecies of writing and the worst examples of bad journalism EVER! In short, I agree with Lucas.

Anyway...I will ONLY pick up the HS to look at Karl deKroo's page and he actually has a good idea of what he's talking about and really has his finger on the pulse

The Age is more business/politics oriented than the Herald Sun which goes for the more sensationalist approach. Although the HS craps on The Age in the sports department. Even though Rugby League doesn't get a good enough run and is too far back in the sports section. They rarely have any RL news other than Melbourne Storm so there's little chance to know what is going on north of the border.

I only read the Herald Sun because I can get it for free and they have Melbourne Storm news. As for The Age, it's a poor man's Australian. I prefer the business/politics papers as well so that's why I subscribe to the national paper. Herald Sun has a Grade 4 reading standard or something however The Age is all leftist rubbish, especially their feminazi political editor Michelle Grattan.
