westie clearly knows more than all the so called experts, commentators, ex players, coaches who rate Smith.
Seriously if we play this game at Etihad, with a NRL ref, NRL interpretations, dry weather, Melbourne Storm at full strength, then the margin would be alot greater than 8 points, despite what Westie will try tell ya.
I mean we all know Farah is the best hooker in the world as he clearly showed in origin last year

The Terror said the match kicked off at 5am this morning, so I get up early and there is just the news and then Sunrise on 9. So I tramp out and get the TV guide, which says the match is on at 1am tomorrow...

F**k me dead, how hard is it for these clowns to get the bloody date/ time right for a single f**king game?:x

but even im not blind enough to realise that Hynchcliffe isn't fit to tie Cameron Smith's shoelaces when it comes to the hooker position.

and you can add Farah to the list as well which is exactly what has gotten Westie's g-string in such a twist. Don't get me wrong i think Farah is a good player and very valuable to his team but he's not in Smith's league.

He didnt drop nothing.. He got shoulder twice.. By Billy and GI first.. then Billy second.. which dislodged the Ball..
It was good defence.

He dropped the ball

Those hits while grounding were pretty soft compared to some of the attention wingers get.

Thought the game was a bit slow but thats Silverwood for you.

Very close game, could of gone either way. Not sure why it shows the NRL is vastly better than the super league though.

Hopefully now you have won a few matches you can stop pretending you don't care and the game can be arranged for a proper time of the year (after gf's?) and alternate between countries.

Oh and Leeds are currently a mid table super league side... :)

I really didn't care who won, I just wanted to see a good game, but the game was crap. Melbourne should've been penalised more, they were slowing the game down way too much.

I'm getting sick of this stuff where defenders take a few seconds to turn and look at the ref while waiting to be told to get off the player. This is a blight on the game and should be stopped. They are supposed to be allowed more time from 'surrender' tackles but the ref in the WCC seemed to be making 'surrender' calls far too often. Even then it still looks pathetic when they stop and turn to look for the ref waiting for his call, Tolman did it in every tackle he made.
Shaun McCrae saying it was playing into Leeds hands, what a moron. I'm sure they loved having the Storm defensive line set all night and not being able to get quick play the balls.

The Leeds winger wrecked it for them with his dropped balls over the line, whether he got hit or not it just wasn't good enough. Wingers always get hit in those situations and good wingers don't drop it unless it's a really good tackle on them, the tackles on him weren't good enough to stop him scoring, he just stuffed up.

The closeness made it interesting but it wasn't a good game to watch.

Clearly you didn't watch it.
.

thats right, as i stated nein didnt show it.

as for your bagging of the storm players - i'll have to take your word for it as i didnt watch it, but if the storm were as sh*thouse as you make out what does that say about leeds?

p.s. who won the game again?

i despair for english rugby league

their best team match fit complete with home crowd, home climate, home referee facing a trial match squad of a bunch of players just back from holiday

how much more can the balance be tipped in their favour to actually win a few games and get some pride

maybe they get 14 players or something

Leeds played in to the Storms hands if anything. There were next to nothing off loads from both sides -maybe cos of the weather conditions? I'd say the Leeds attack was average where as the Storm had multiple plays where they used back door players and players running many short balls -some really good ones to from Adam Blair, Todd Lowrie and Aidan Tolman.

Was a good game to watch- would have been better if Inglis and Slater had played on drier turf to play on. Leeds obvisouly shut down Inglis each time he got the ball in hand -good home work. Forwards battled hard up the middle. Just happened that the ref allowed the Storm to slow the game down and control the Leeds attack. Is it me or GI now sporting a gut???

Kyle Leuluai kept flying in to hit Storm players. Drop balls from Leeds stiffled there completion rates and pressure on Slater -some very high balls for Slater to defuse. Eastwood fumbled also -was hoping a scrap would start up when Blair hit him without the ball.

7 out of 10, bring the game down to the summer of Oz where free flowing footie can be watched, not crash and bash forwards footy like we watched yesterday!

^ good post. Pretty much sums up my take on the game as well.

Game will never come back here, the Australasian sides would slaughter them year in, year out.

Melbourne Storm won.. but nah.. they didnt really win did they guys.. lol..
Cos the winger who couldnt score the tries really would have scored them so they really did win even though they actually lost.. lol..

what is wrong with you people?

tezzah, free flowing footy? This is the competition where for the last 4 years has been dominated by wrestling tactics and slowing the play-the-ball? That's partly the reason Storm won, Silverwood played to their interpretaions too much.

The game was good to watch, I don't know why people say a ame is crap just because it's raining, points are hard to come by, and the play-the-ball was slow. Otherwise every Melbourne match for the past 4 years has been crap!

Leeds played quite well, given their poor start to the season. They had a few players out as well, most noticeably Scott Donald out for Kallum Watkins. And for those who say the Storm had a 'trial match' squad, they were without Cronk, White and ???
Storm were obviously there to win and if it wasn't for Senior's mouth the game most likely would have gone into Golden Point.

haha

you guys were lucky to receive a blatant offside try and a bunch of home town refereeing decisions that would have got any 1st grade ref in australia the sack

in fact i think thats half your problem

your refs are so inconsistant and unproffessional

and all you players seem to tire in the 2nd half

Was a reasonable game, plenty of tough hard work and the odd glimpse of flair in v difficult conditions. The ref let Melbourne lay on far far too much and that was probably the difference between the two sides. leeds created enough chances to win but couldn't finish them. Not much between the two teams and you could see from the happiness of the Storm players at the end that they were taking it very seriously.

Leeds would be in top 4 in NRL no worries.

Thats because your teams have to sign our top forwards, produce some of your own...

In review of this thread.
Leeds run the Storm close despite the Storm having a million players missing (who though, Cronk?), the ref giving everything Leeds way and the event being held in the UK (what the pitch different up here or something?).

Yes i can see why the super league is so far behind the NRL, i mean its not like anyone could be signed from a mid table super league team and ever play in an allstar match?

The depth of the NRL competition is greater, and the top level players, well Inglis anyway is better. It should be, its the biggest sport in 2 states over there. The intensity which is beginning to grow over here is what your players are used to, hence better big game experience.

That doesn't mean there would be all round slaughter.
