Merge With The Tigers

Everyone knows there are too many teams in Sydney but it is not Penrith earmarked for merger. Far more likely are those city teams that are close together - and that would be?

Whatever club fans better take this issue seriously because it will not go away. The move to reduce the number of clubs in Sydney started in 1994 and there are still 9 teams in the greater sydney region. Expansion into other regions means either relocation or mergers in sydney clubs.

Penrith better be ready to face the issues, they are still vulnerable even if not quite as vulnerable as some others.

In all seriousness it's obvious why fans can take a pot shot at clubs like Penrith and Wests Tigers (and Parra for that matter). The leagues clubs as well as the football teams have been a dogs breakfast for many years with management clearly stuck in the 80s.

These clubs have so many advantages provided by their junior nurseries and yet constantly get outperformed on the field and in the office by clubs like Manly, Easts and Canterbury.

If these clubs realised their potential, they'd be the biggest assets the code has. I don't want to see any clubs disappear, even if I hate most of the clubs in Sydney, but if any were to go I think it would be bad for the game if it was a western sydney club.

Canterbury leagues does well on the back of a massive asian population. Manly and Easts leagues struggle badly. Luckily Penrith built up massive assets. Unluckily they pissed millions up against the wall with a badly thought out renovation.

Hmmm 9 Sydney teams into 5, lets see how.
1. Dragons full relocate to the Wollongong
2. Sea eagles relocate to the central coast
3. Souths / sharks merger
4. West tigers split up & mergers to be parramatta tigers / western Sydney panthers
5. Sydney bulldogs

Or

Mergers back then should of been

1. Dragons to the gong
2. Sea eagles to the central coast & make the northern eagles work
3 . Merge bulldogs & western suburbs magpies as west bulldogs & send to Perth
4. Merge souths & cronulla as the southern sharks & send to Adelaide
5. Merge roosters & balmain as the Sydney tigers
6. Merge parra & Penrith as parramatta Penrith panthers

6 teams out of 9 Sydney teams & 3 new regional areas.

Tired...bored...off season.... Blah blah....

Is imaginary merger bs the best you can do?

I think you boys need to discover weed, it may sharpen up the dullness behind those eyes.

Getting rid of Penrith or asking them to merge would be the dumbest idea ever.
Clearly no idea of the sporting landscape here in Penrith, where Rugby League is the king by a long way.
Yeah let's get rid of Penrith where the largest number of Juniors anywhere in the world play and open up the door for the AFL.
Great idea......

 quality off-season thread.

Territorially, covering the bulk of Sydney's expanding population base, if there's two clubs that should never merge it's Penrith and Wests.

Sort out some of the smaller territory anomalies first - Souths and Easts, or Cronulla surrounded by St George-Illawarra.

Or merge the cheats with Annandale and let them play in the 12-a-side topsansapexball league against University, Cumberland-Glebe, and Wales-Christmas Island. Bring in the Central Coast Bears in their place.

N.b. I do not believe the twat has ever even been to Wales, but he does seen to think he's devilishly clever for picking a username that leads people to assume he's from somewhere he's never been and that he supports a team he doesn't.

Agree, it makes him a douche bag of the highest order.

And yes SWR, I do live in Kiama and I am a Saints man. That is what sane people do with their usernames.
