just a question.
west tigers are a merged entity. but if you look down the grades, there is a western suburbs team and a balmain tigers team, which means the teams still exist.
stgeorge illawarra steelers are also a merged entity. but if you look down the grades, you only see stgeorge illawarra steelers as a merged club, which means that stgeorge dragons and illawarra steelers do not exist anymore as a team.
Manly were merged and (correct me if i am wrong) their lower grades were merged aswell. but manly had the cash to lose the bears and continue by themselves.
1. If stgoerge dragons and illawarra steelers do not exist as clubs anymore, in any league, that would mean that all their premierships have been wiped out aswell. now my question is, why do they go on about how many premierships they have won when their old clubs do not exist anymore?
even though the tigers and the magpies still exist, i have read that they have wiped the slate clean and this will be their first ever premiership won (which is the way i see it should be).
2. if stgeorge chose to merge(from what ive heard from every queen supporter), why dont they do what manly did and get rid of their merger?
3. this goes to both teams. when you go to one of these teams games, why is it that you see stgeorge dragons, illawarra steelers, balmain tigers and western suburb magpies jerseys being worn by fans? (lets not forget north sydney bears aswlell)
i was chatting with my brother in law on saturday who is an ex-magpies supporter, and is now a west tigers supporter (and proud of it) who was telling me about all the supporters that come out and say "we won because the stgeorge side of them did it or we won because the balmain side of the team did it. if you noticed yesterday, when they were walking back to the sheds, their was a guy holding the magpies flag over the heads of all the players walking in. couldnt he have held a west tigers flag just as easily.
4. if he is an actual western suburbs supporter, why is he going to a nrl game and not jersey flegg game where his team still exists. for the dragons, why do they wear jerseys of teams that dont exist anymore?
