Dear Donny

Perfect opportunity at the end of season 2008 to rid ourselves of deadwood that quite frankly has been hanging around this club for far to long.

I suggest that you do a Carney on a number of other what I like to refer to as "marquee signings". You need a few of these at every club ... they drag others along and make the average players look half decent.

We are not going to win a comp with rejects from other clubs ... please instutue a NO REJECT policy in your QA for signing players in the future.

Nor are we going to win a comp with powder puff players (nice guys) ... we need, and dont currently have, some mean Polynesian types at the club ... cheap as, go and get some.

I might have further advice in the near futrure so stay tuned.

Ohh and btw congrats on the signing of TC ... about time you guys hit the mark.

Anyone got a list of all the NRL players off contract this year? We really need to hit the market hard in a couple of positions.

Haven't they been doing this over the last couple of years?
Plus the number of player off contract would indicate they will be continuing this process.

I agree, two seasons with players who are yet to really show anything like Tilse and if Henry isnt considering a cleanout at this stage then he is not doing the right thing by your club.

1. Matt Cooper, complete pro, needs a change of scenery, Graham to wing
2. Mick Monas back from England, 500 K should do it, Carney to 5/8
3. Props, at least two, but who?

Dear bay,

thank you for your concern. As you may have noticed our previous coach made a few decisions on who he wanted in his squad and was renown for giving people a go and especially valued players with utility value.

SInce his departure our signings have reflected that. Canberra will always be a club that will give anyone a go but we are very careful as to who and what sort of players we will sign. Canberra wants people who will promote and contribute to the ACT community, not just people who are in it for the $$ and dont value our history or culture.

We will always look to within before we look out. As you may or may not be aware but it is harder for us to attract people who are established in Sydney if we are up against another sydney based club. Our history of successful qld scouting is going to be hard to replicate when you have NQ, GC, the STorm as well as us scouting a state with a population less than Sydney.

We will look very hard at our roster and who Neil wants in his team in the future.

thank you for your concern,

The team certainly didn't hurt their favourtisim for the spoon from their last performance.

I think all player salaries should be made public. This would give a better indication of the players Canberra can go for, plus show the world how overpaid these amatuers are down in Canberra.

Donny: Max … how does $250K per season sound

Bay56: FFS !!

Donny: not enough !! … $400K and that’s my final offer

Bay56: It’s Bay56 here Donny FFS !!

Donny: $50 .. err … err Bay56 how’s it going … how can I help you

Donny: yea Bay we ..

Bay56: err Bay56 to you Donny … continue

Donny: yea, as I was saying we’ve dispensed with the idea of paying each and every player in the club the same amount .. didn’t seem to be working …

Bay56: no cods Einstein … let me guess, you’re now going to use a system whereby you pay 45% of the salary cap to six marquee players and let the rest fight it out amongst themselves.

Donny: yea, how’d you guess Bay … err Bay56

Bay56: just lucky I suppose … anyway could you get Neil to give me a call …. we looked like headless chooks against the men from the knight … got a few things to go over with him.
Donny: yea OK Bay56 … feel free to call me in the future … we seem to have very similar ideas on how to get this club back to the top

Bay56: hang on there Donny … yea OK, call me whenever you need help … and I suppose it’s OK to call me Bay

Donny: no worries Bay56 .... err Bay *giggles*
