I don't think he is the next Steve Waugh, he is better.

The next Michael Clarke.

Hopefully he will be himself. Very stylish and confident. He would be the next Mark Waugh or Neil Harvey I think - however he should just be himself.

He's not the next Steve Waugh, he's more a mix between Michael Slater and Mark Waugh, he's got every shot in the book, handy bowler and definately a future Australian skipper.

He's captained junior rep teams.

He's into the Aussie team at a young age.

He can bowl a bit.

He has the attributes of a good player and is well positioned to be a future Aussie captain.

But I would not be putting too much presure o a youg kid at this stage.

Who?? :?

You are obviously a NSWmen :p

Get Brad Hodge into that side and then you are talking!! ;-)

Don't you worry, I'm one of the biggest Bradley Hodge fans around. I just happen to think that Hodge won't be favoured by the selectors becuase of his age. What is he? 28? Thats not that old, but yeah you know.

Bottom line is that i would love to see Hodge in there as much as you would. ;-)

I'm a bit of a Hodge fan as well.

But I think his 1st class average is a touch lower than what the Aussie selectors want.

But I do think he will play test cricket before he's through.

i don't believe he will play for Australia for a while - katich will be the next cab off the rank -

While Katich has the freakish ability to take alot of wickets, he will have a big head start on the other batsman.

Agree that Katich should get into the Aussie team before Hodge, but Hodge should definitely be given a go on his current form regardless of his age. I mean Martin Love (insert snore here) got a go in the aussie team when he was 28, so I can't see why Hodge shouldn't get the opportunity either.

Martin Love got a go at age 28 because he was averaging over 50 at 1st Class level and was arguably the best batsman in the country, however Hodge is nowhere near that. His average at 1st class level is 42 compared to love at around 52.

Whilst there averages don't compare, I agree, however their form is very similar and that is what selection for the Australian should be based on. Form and potential, and Hodge is as up there as anyone in those 2 categories IMO.

He has got the potential to be the next Steve Waugh. Potential does not get results, hopefully he will fulfill his potential and be get the results and be even better than the great aussie skipper in waugh.

Michael Clarke carried that f**ken team last night, to scrape home against India.

Yet again he cleaned up the sorry mess that Martyn and Bevan create.

On Hodge, I actually think he would be prefered for the one dayers, and wouldn't be suprised to see him play in the upcoming VB series.

Look at his form so far this year for example.

In 3 innings - 2 Hundreds and a 50*.

Bloody Superb.
