SPECULATION just won't go away about the future of former Manly star Michael Monaghan.
The classy hooker is said to be unhappy at English club Warrington.
Monaghan still has two years to run on his contract but there are suggestions his homesickness could prompt him to re-join original club Canberra this year.

We have more than enough hookers....maybe he could get a run at halfback? What do yall think about the possibility of him returning?(He never should of left...but that scum bag Elliott got rid of him)

I think herbert will become a top notch half
im not sure how Monas would fit , he playing busted at the moment , maybe its because he is unhappy , but we would fork out heaps for him and he's not getting younger. I know he is 29 but if we pick him up where does that leave us in a couple of years time, we'd lose herb or Butts and Flanno, possibly young picker ( Mick ). it would be a gamble , do we risk it.

anyway i'll sit on the fence on this one.

Manly won the comp after he left,he is ageing and solid without being dynamic..looks often confused when asked too Question defences in attack..60/40 on this.

Hmmmmmm........

The ironic thing about this, is last year when we had Carney/Campese in the halves, everyone was keen as mustard to get him back so we could play Monaghan/Carney.

I think everyone was pleasently suprised by what we saw by Herbert last year. The kid is a genuine organiser and the fact that Campese was so dynamic when Carney left, coupled with a great partnership in the making with Herbert was enough to think that maybe we have something good on our hands here.

Additionally, the homecoming of Josh McCrone, and the form of Matt Smith and Mick Picker in the under 21s gives us a good deal of young depth.

However, the sheer class that Monaghan oozes at halfback can't be ignored can it? But how many clubs can keep three quality halves on the books? I don't see Monaghan coming back without losing Herbert, or at the very least McCrone or Smith.

You have to ask yourself how worthwhile that'd be....I'm still in favour, but I'm getting less and less sure.

Will have to see how our halves go come the end of the season. But if they aren't up to standard then I would be glad to have him back. He definitely won't be playing hooker at our club since we have 3 of them already.

Agree with your assessment mate ... I was also very enthusiastic to get him back a year ago ... at the end of the day I'll go with the experience that he brings, something that you can'd do without at any club.

Mind you I've got a feeling McCrone is going to come good this eyar ... I've only seen him once in the trails but what I saw made me think he is a better option than Herby.

Yeah, tough call. He and Campo would give us the best defensive halves pairing in the comp.

I'd be worried that he'd try to steal the limelight from Campo with being the senior player, but at least he's robust. He'd be a great clubman though.

Not sure on this one.

I think we should wait till the end of the year and if Herbert struggles for for/ struggles to keep fit, then we must look for a halfback. Whether it be Mick Monas, I don't know. But the upside of having Mick is that Joel said he would like to finish his career with him.
