Might be Fifita’s last year with us.

He hasn't played test or Origin since 2016.

He's passed his best and won't be cheap. He's exactly the type of signing we don't want.

Seems a reactionary comment with no relevance Inf.

It matters not when players last played reps. It matters how long they did it for and how much they learnt and absorbed in their time then what they pass on.

Stuff it. Fifita, Moylan, Dugan, Woods will all have to go too. None of them are current rep players. shheeessshhh what is the club thinking?

FTR i will always like the idea of one Fifita on the field. They share 80 minutes.

Woods and maybe Hunt.

We are doing the third prop at lock as oppossed to a Murray, Radley type.

Williams and Rudolf we have been using.

BTW I am huge fan of this guy.

John Asiata, just coming into his prime.
Yes - he could well be a fantastic 13, which is where he wants to play.

Why not chase him rather than Tamou?

It seems that we already have a fantastic bunch of big boppers coming through! Woods will still be around, as well as Wado.

Rudolf is already playing like a veteran!

I don’t know about Asiata. I liked him a year or 2 ago, but seems to have dropped off. Maybe bashed up from playing too much as a prop instead of as a ball player

Always thought asiata was overrated because he's a forward with a grubber kick. But i confess to not watching other teams very closely.

Players and coaches and footy staff always think they can win a premiership. Always! That's why they compete. They don't think like fans

But I’m sure in the back of their minds they’d ha e a realistic target. You look at your side and say we need to get 20-30 games into these players to get experience.

Unlike other codes you don’t benefit from losing but you’d target a couple of years of experience preferably making finals and getting ready for a serious tilt.

It’s then you go we are building good depth but we lack a high quality player in a certain position and you buy them to go then and there. Or you buy a Tamou because you want protection of young forwards whilst they develop but you don’t pay 750k for that.

True that. And premiership windows can open quickly in the NRL. Anyone suggesting during the rabble of 2014 that we were only two years from a premiership would have been ridiculed, but it happened.

But that’s where you say we’re really strong in this area but we need better options in another, you add Maloney, Ennis, Barba and Townsend to some quality you’re developing and bang you turn it around. But you still need a quality core before you buy short term fixes imo

Tamou is a good option
So is welch.
could you get him cheaper?
Hetherington is off contract when?

Welch isn't a bad shout, would be cheaper but he's less experienced and not as good as Tamou this year (imo)

He is considerably younger though and would be a good player to come to replace Fifita and an ageing Woods.

Prop rotation of Welch, Uele, Rudolf, Hunt/Pele isn't bad.

I wish we had signed Talakai to at least a 2 year extension instead of one.

He is exactly what we need in the back row and his stocks are only going to rapidly rise by seasons end.

Maybe the player himself knows that more than anyone.

I get the feeling with how our cap is with the penalty this year, the huge contracts coming off next year and the year after the club is taking it's time to restructure and plan things out.

Talakai will get a longer deal once things are more clearer. He seems happy here, don't think he'll so easily go to a new club with how Penrith and Souths worked out.

Isn't Welch the fella that gave away that stupid penalty in the GF in the lead up to Fifita' s try???
Wouldn't that be a turn up for the books, Storm get the guy that saved us and we get the guy that helped us along to get there
