Lazio defender Sinisa Mihajlovic has been suspended by Uefa for 8 matches following his conduct in champions league defeat against Chelsea, Mihajlovic was sent off for a second bookable offence, he also kicked and spat at Chelsea striker, Adrian Mutu, as well inappropriate conduct involving a match official.

His ban make's the English FA's suspensions & fine's for the Arsenal players involved in the ugly scene's at Old Trafford look even more like a slap on the wrist.

So Lauren didn't have his hand around Phil Neville's throat? And Keown didn't jump on Ruud's back and fore-arm him over the head?

Sure, no Arsenal individual did anything as bad as Mihajlovic. But it was hardly 'a couple of pushes'.

oh get off it man!
media hype that is all that has made it look so bad.
In a game of rugby league for god's sake that sort of stuff is deemed fine!
bunch of girls for even making such a big deal.
Not one punch was thrown, pathetic.

Ummm, last time I looked, if a league player put his hand around anothers throat it would not be 'fine'. And if one jumped on anothers back and smacked him over the head in back-play just because he missed a penalty kick it would not be 'fine'.

Disgraceful display by Mihajlovic, deserves what he got. Arsenal deserve what they got aswell. Media or not. That's not acceptable. In Rugby League you're also allowed to tackle people around the legs with your arms, does that mean it should be allowed/fine in Soccer????[/quote]

Well, Keown would hardly have been celebrating and jumping on his back laughing at him if Ruud had scored the penalty. But yeah, it was more because of Ruud's percieved 'cheating' in getting Vieira sent off, and then missing the penalty.

So racism is not the same as fascism. And because he plays for a club that may have some elements in its support base which is linked with the far right wing of politics, that makes him a fascist as well? So i would persume all Lazio players are now branded as fascist?

anyway a brief history of the term FASCISM.
Word History: It is fitting that the name of an authoritarian political movement like Fascism, founded in 1919 by Benito Mussolini, should come from the name of a symbol of authority. The Italian name of the movement, fascismo, is derived from fascio, "bundle, (political) group," but also refers to the movement's emblem, the fasces, a bundle of rods bound around a projecting axe-head that was carried before an ancient Roman magistrate by an attendant as a symbol of authority and power. The name of Mussolini's group of revolutionaries was soon used for similar nationalistic movements in other countries that sought to gain power through violence and ruthlessness, such as National Socialism
