Miles or Richards?

In most posts regarding next years team people have Pat Richards starting on one wing with Covell on the other.

I agree with Covell due to his goalkicking but I think Miles was going exceptionally well during the season and he will not give up a place without a fight.

I totally agree with signing Richards but I think Miles has the nod at this stage and deserves first shot.

Let off season and trial form decide their fate i say. Healthy competition, can only benefit the Joint-Venture club. And if one player is out doing the other in regards to fitness and form, well they shall be rewarded with the position in question.

its slack to say but covell wont be in the team next year
miles and richards will be the wingers with covell playing reggies till 1 of them get hurt or dropped due to form
hodgson will be g/k

I tend to agree with Dan.While Covell did have a good year i think he may be unlucky and miss the boat for next year. With Hodgson kicking I dont see a spot for him.

In saying this,I thought he showed guts and played well for his first year in the top grade.

Its good for a change to be in a situation where there is so much competition for places in first grade. But surely one of the reasons that Luke Covell was giving a one-year contract was that we now have several goal-kicking options including Hodgson and Prince.

Bald.............i agree with you there. It seemed a little strange to give a young guy like LUke a 1yr deal. Obviously they feel there'll be some serious competition from Miles and Richards and with other players capable of goal kicking it looks like Covell will need a big off season and season to stay beyond next year.

exactly, he had a great year but miles and richards are better, there faster, stronger and as good as defenders, why keep covell there for, his kicking???? hodgson can kick. we as the fans have to stop wanting players to be in the team due to the fact he had a good 1st season or he is a juniour of the team, if there is someone better put him in its that simple we dont wonna be a team that select positions on pitty.

Goal Kicking options for next year

Covell
Hodgson
Prince
Richards
Reynolds
Marshall
Collis

Plenty of goal kickers for next year which means you have to add something more to the squad than goal kicking.

To be honest I don't see any spot for Covell in the starting side, I see him more as a back up option during the season not just on the Wing but in the Centers as well.

I think we will start with Miles and Richards on the wing.

Richards Should be on one wing and maybe Collis on the other
i would have richards take the goalkicking duties as hodgson has had a fare few injuries this yr

I'd be more worried about who yuou want playing fullback. Hodgson will spend as much time out next year as he did this one....

Miles, Richards and Clayton would be your best back three or Fitzhenry in No 1. Hodgie will be there when he can.
