Australia Tour Announced

By Beano
Date: 1/4/2005

SNIPPET | Finally a tour that cannot be called off, but one that will be expensive enough to keep many away. In keeping with Millwall's overseas tours in recent years, the club have opted for the sunshine and Australia, specific clubs are yet to be announced but a few have been penciled in.

I'm quite excited by the news that we're going to Australia for three weeks and I'm sure the players are as well, Canada was an experience for some last year and our treks to Europe have certainly entertained a few more but the opportunity to plan three weeks of the summer out in Oz with the Lions has surely got to be the ultimate in pre-season tours.

The schedule that has been pencilled in for the summer is as follows, dates yet to be confirmed:

21st June - Perth Glory
25th June - New Zealand Knights
1st July - Sydney FC
9th July - Australia
13th July - Queensland Roar FC
16th July - Melbourne Victory

And possibly another fixture with the Newcastle Jets. The tour has been scheduled to fit in with a pre-season tournament that the above league teams will be involved in later in the month. Stadiums are yet to be named, so don't book anywhere just yet!

It is thought the team will leave for Sydney around 16th June and player's wives and family will be invited. For those worried about costs to the club, JB has arranged for the players to pay for their own flights and accommodation.

It's definitely an amazing revelation but JB is hoping team building and a real club holiday with family values and squad training will ensure we are more than prepared for the season that will follow.

Australia here we come, it's a good job it's April and we have time to save up, two months should be enough time but the season ticket may have to go on hold.
