Reading the full statement, you can see where the board are coming from. A sad day for Saints fans but the show will go on!

Here is the full statement from redvee.net - http://saints.rlfans.com/readarticle.php?article_id=156

Millward has confirmed he'll be appealing against the decision.

Wow. At least the club came forward with all the detail in the statement.

It really highlights the ongoing tensions there between club and coach, despite relative on-field success.

Still hasn't sunk in though, even though it was on the cards. He's been a part of the club for 5 years, brought us a memorable World Club Championship, and lived every moment and emotion as a fan. It's going to be weird without him

Just a shame it's come to this. I'm not convinced that one of our longest serving and most successful coaches warranted a sacking and not internal disciplnary action, but I guess we don't and probably will never know the full stroy. Which as a fan, is frustrating to say the least.

I hope he does get his dream job at St.George one day if his appeal is unsuccessful (which it almost certainly will be).

Yeah, I'm feeling for you Saints fans at the moment. Just posted an F7s article to that effect (in Rhinos Round 5).

What is the reaction from the fans...
I think it will come tomorrow, when it sinks in. It's middle of the night in England at the moment...

I read the statement and it's a long time since I read such enjoyable garbage. Who are the board trying to kid?

The key point is the first sentence of 11. The entire business seems to be a personality clash between the chief exec and a senior employee who McManus is are trying to sack without having to incur a financial penalty.

Obviously there is a case to sack Millward but it appears to have been mishandled. the first things the appeals tribunal will want to know is why it took so long to deal with these incidents instead of immediate action being taken.

If the board does get screwed for compensation does that count against the slary cap?

Not sure. The two Mcs know what they're doing though. Whether you agree or disagree with their decision, they'll have left Millward without a leg to stand on either way.
