I contend that is a bit harsh on Mitch, as IMO a half and 5/8 must compliment each other. Cronulla has yet to have a really classy pairing. One without the other is generally not enough to take you to the very top. Our best pairing I can remember is Russell-Speechley.
Sterling - Kenny
Langer - Lewis
Stuart - Daley
Now although each player was great in thier own right, it was the combos that won premierships - Origin games etc.
This is basically why I want to see
Kimmorley - Vagana.
Lets not forget how well the Kimmorley - Hill combo did for Melbourne.
As for Bird, he is the current Australian 5/8 in youth teams, his type of play could potentially compliment Kimmorley's game and this is why I think he has been given the first shot at the title by Raper.
Mitch gaining experience at any club will be good for him and whomever takes him onboard next.
