Mitchell Pearce

Funny how just being ahead by 2 points is something NSW couldn't achieve despite leading by ten points at half time.

JT can sit next to Milford for the Victor's photo as they raise the Shield. Since they will both be a part of the victorious 2017 Maroons.

So it was Mitchell Pearce's fault NSW didn't win eh? Hmm. Can't remember him giving away multiple penalties piggy backing Qld out of their own quarter (hello Jarryd Hayne and Wayde Graham), throwing flick passes which were either dropped or went behind the support and into touch (hello Jarryd Hayne), or going themselves for the line when they had an unmarked players in support and not scoring (hello Jarryd Hayne). I could even say the pass from Maloney outside to Morris for his try instead of to the support player inside could have cost us the game as it ensured a much harder kick at goal, a kick which he missed.

Also, if Pearce is to blame, why then has Laurie Daley stated he never sent out any messages in the second half to get anyone to run at Jonathan Thurston and his bung shoulder? Also the number of penalties given away in the second half cost us big time. Had Graham not done his stupid strip on tackle 4, Qld would not have been as close as they were for Gagai's second try.

Always amazes me in a team game, when multiple players made mistakes, it is one player's fault and the ones who made the mistakes are overlooked. FMD!

Pearce has had a very good club career and has a premiership win with the Roosters... well done to him for that... his passing and kicking games are also very good at FG level

but he has consistently shown that he is not an Origin half... that is not to say i think he was poor last night, especially in comparison to some of his other teammates (eg. Hayne, Graham), but he is unable to control Origin matches with his direction and kicking, he is unable to apply pressure, and he won't come up with the crucial play on a 5th tackle when protecting a lead or chasing a game

if NSW lose Game III, as i expect them to, then Pearce should not be relied upon for 2018 onwards... he would have had so many opportunities in the Blues jersey for NO series wins

the problem for NSW is that we have no Origin standard halfbacks at all --> A. Reynolds cannot challenge the line, Hodkinson's knees are gone and he was with all due respect never that good to begin with, Brooks and Moses have not lived up to the potential/hype (at least not yet), Cleary is too young etc.

a Moylan and Maloney combination seems to be the only other possibility at the present time
When JT retires I think Moylan will become the next Australian 6. I can't believe that NSW went back to that dud Pearce this year at the expense of Moylan who had an outstanding game in his last outing in the halves for NSW. A pairing of Moylan and Malony was so obvious that even Strevie Wonder could see it, what happened - we went back to the dud.

And it'll make you happy to know Froggy that I believe Moylan should be there for game 3.

He's a freak ballplayer that would have QLD worried.
You haven't been reading my posts. I'm hoping he isn't there because we need him. Mansour too.

NSW really could have used him in the second half in place of (probably) Maloney but that doesn't mean the same situation will arise in game 3.

After the way they treated Moylan I'm hoping he gives them the middle finger until they f**k off Laurie and Mitch.

That will do me. Blaming one of Maloney's try assists for costing NSW the game.

Meanwhile Puss with zero try assists did nothing wrong.

You do understand that there is 1 more game to play?
Do you realise that NSW had a chance to win the Series and fooked up?. Do you realise that NSW had the series momentum and lost it? If they had the hunger, actually had the hunger, they would have capitalised on their 10 point half time lead at their home ground in front of 60,000 plus NSW fans to humiliate QLD? They were the team humiliated.

QLD gambled on the wrong team in Game 1. NSW had been gifted Game 1 by the worst QLD performance in 12 years coinciding with deservedly the best NSW performance in 12 years. QLD have consistently been the better team for all but one of those years. And by corollary NSW have been consistently the losing team for all but one of those years. NSW fielded the same team both games. QLD had a different team for games 1 and 2. Supposedly the story goes that NSW superiority won them Game 1. The same NSW team plays Game 2, blows a 10 point half time lead, and loses the chance to wrap up the Series, loses momentum. Same team now exposed as not necessarily superior.

One game each. QLD has the better track record since 2005. QLD more often than not closes-out the Series. QLD has the momentum. The series heads back to QLD.

What are you basing your confidence upon? QLD's worst Game in decades being repeated? That we'll selected the same Game 1 team again? That NSW will suddenly discover the secret of winning when they just screwed their chance to close out the Series in Game 2 and go for a whitewash? When they blew a 10 point lead? Against a QLD half with one arm not working?

Is it confidence or NSW hubris?

See QLD are confident because they more consistently know how to win more than one game per Series. QLD are confident because they are not fielding the Game 1 team. QLD are confident because they ran down NSW' 10point lead and kept the Blues scoreless in the second-half. QLD are confident because NSW is not considering any changes to their team.

It'll be interesting to see how the bookies odds are the next game.

Hayne and Graham were hugely responsible for NSW losing that game.

If Hayne passed to BMoz NSW win. If Graham tackles McGuire or doesn't strip Napa NSW most likely win.

They both plodded it up.

But no, let's dedicate a thread to Pearce instead...
Pearce was poor again, in a game NSW lost again. But no, other players also played bad, so let's talk about them instead.

I wonder who Andrew Johns' fulltime rant was aimed at

Johns is a f**king asshole, all these years he's been one of the geniuss who were pushing for Pearce to be in the team.

QLD being blessed with freaks in this generation has f**king blinded every ones view of what can be done on a footy field. like you can have a couple of team mates such as Jayme and graham make 8 crucial errors combined, but then still solely bring your team the victory.

QLD have the 3 probable immortals in this crop who can make up for deficiencies such as plodsby and plopallii. NSW are merely mortals. The perfect game brought NSW the win in game 1. Hayne, Graham and NSW imploded last night. I didn't see Maloney righting the sinking ship either and he saw most of the ball on his left-side.

by the way, is there a screen shot somewhere of stunned mullet Cordner being interviewed at the end of the match? There's another reason for the loss right there. I think he was like that for the 40 mins prior to the interview too.

Take some authority of the team mate!! Maloney-Graham-Hayne hijacked it completely.

Let me guess, at the expense of Maloney right?
No at the expense of Pearce.

Maloney is a big game player and his goal kicking is crucial.

Pearce is simply the odd man out.

I'd also drop Hayne for Jennings brilliant defence and Graham would be on thin ice with Luke Lewis seriously considered.

Lol why've you now turned on Pearce?

I'd leave Graham and Hayne there, they had a bad night but they've shown in the past that they're up to it. Jennings can go missing quite often, if I were to replace Hayne with someone it would be Latrell Mitchell. Luke Lewis is a beast, only reason he wasn't there was cause NSW thought he was too old.
