Certainly the most fired up I saw him last night was in about the 78th or 79th minute after yet another NSW mistake - the camera was on him and he was blowing up deluxe at someone about something.... I was hoping the camera panned away to show that he was looking in a mirror....

It was after he fired a hospital pass at Fifitas bootlaces.

Wasn't it his pass that hit Gillett in the head and led to the Glasby break? It was only Smith inexplicably not passing and a dubious forward pass call that prevented a try.

Courtesy of being under the tutelage for a 2nd straight season of notorious halves career killing coach Ricky Stuart, Sezer is flat out making first grade at the moment...

Chad Townsend could have executed a better passing and kicking game than Pearce did last night I'm certain....

I posted in the Eels section earlier today, Daley forever trots out the same line about "not wanting to pick players until they're ready".... QLD picked a debutant to start at #6 in the "Biggest Origin Game of All Time" (according to channel 9) and he killed it...

All this talk about having to pick "Origin players" and holding blokes back until "they're ready" - this attitude is probably doing more harm than good as blokes are probably starting to believe that State of Origin is a completely foreign game and they might as well be playing water polo by the time they get a start... It's a game of rugby league FFS - yeah it's a bit faster and it'll test you physically but if you're a footballer you're a footballer - NSW coaching and selection panels make it sound like they need players who can run with a footy in 1 hand and perform heart surgery with the other while they're on the field....

I disagree. Fittler debuted early and look how it ruined him.

The Wiki page on Pearce is pretty good...

"Guess who's back? Selected again after missing 2016, NSW lose again."

and this:

Career Prospects[edit]
The playing future of Mitchell Pearce looks bright, with a possible shift to AFL after strong interest was shown from the GWS Giants and Sydney Swans. It is reported they were impressed with his ability to consistently hit the Queensland fullback and wingers on the chest with his 5th tackle kicks. The Wallabies are also desperate for his signature after he has demonstrated several traits inherent to Australian Rugby culture, such as losing important matches, missing tackles, getting bullied by his opponents, looking clueless in attack, and habitually disappointing his supporters on the big stage. Finally, it appears his movie star good looks will pay off. Directors are interested in Pearce replacing Rowan Atkinson for the upcoming ‘Johnny English 3’ due to his experience in somehow repeatedly getting selected in an important role despite seemingly being inept and incapable of performing it. However the most likely scenario unless Pearce boycotts his own selection is a possible selection as Blues coach to compulsorily remove him from the playing field.

Pearce was useless no doubt.

But what about "Artie" Fifita?

Remember that crap after game one?

Artie's turds were better than him. I wonder if he's going to have a cry about not getting any respect this time.

Josh McGuire said words to the effect of "we knew you were shit" and "you are just shit c---s".

Hard to argue.

I.actually give a lot of credit to Qld for Fifitas lack of impact with the ball in games 2 and 3. They hit him hard around the legs and dropped him when wanted to play direct and he resorted to trying to run.around then but they kept a good straight line. He eas completely nullified.

In game 1 they went high which is what he wants as his leg strength and offload ability come to the fore and he is allowed to eat plenty of metees and create 2nd phase.

They completely worked him out. Will be interesting to see what happens at club level as no doubt plenty of nrl coaches would have watched.

Not a lot to say about his attitude in defence. Poor like the rest of them.

Top three half backs in NRL:

1. Johnathan Thurston.
2. Cooper Cronk
3. Mitchell Pearce.

Mitchell Pearce's solo try, extra time field goal, and generally outstanding play against St. George-Illawarra generally, including his defence, proved that he is only eclipsed by the two Queenslanders.

Mitchell Pearce has finally proven himself to all but the most deranged doubters that he is top quality and an asset to the Roosters and the game generally.

Well he is not an asset to the Blues. Maybe Qld.

Where are you hiding Albert?

The next time Slater is feeling sick with the cold, he shouldn't go see a GP

I'm sure Pearce could do a check up since he's so familiar with finding his throat
Not true. If he actually aimed a kick at slater last night, THEN he would have found grass!

He only finds players on the full when he tries to avoid them.

90% of the time Pearce was kicking from between 40 meter line and halfway with 3 players ready at the back. From the same area of the field Queensland had the same results...only difference was it only 30% of the time.
He appeared to lose his kicking licence in the second half, with Maloney taking the attacking kicks, one of which led to Dugan's try.

So you've got a half back and team leader who can't kick, can't put runners into gaps, can't organise and can't inspire his forwards. All he can really do is tackle a bit and back up breaks. That's not a half back I'm afraid. Maybe its time for him to try hooker if he wants to have a continuing rep career.

Would working for a VET be out of the question.

Yeah because tackling a forward hard and around the legs has never been done before, ever.

Pearce is a weird player. He's a five-eighth playing in the number 7.

He's a fast playmaker that doesn't rely on organisation or clutch plays. He's able to service his team well but when its time to step up, he usually fails. He's gotten better in this aspect this year though, kind of.

Essentially NSW are playing with two five-eighths. We need a general to organise the play and call the shots.

Not as often as it should. For some reason the modern coaches teach the first defender ro go high and wrap up the ball. That plays right to Fifitas strengths.

But sure, throw out a sartastic line if it makes you feel better.
