A 61-YEAR-old man, believed to be Australian music industry icon Molly Meldrum, is in a critical condition after falling from a ladder.
Meldrum was treated at his home before being taken to hospital after the accident.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed to the Herald Sun it had transported a man in a critical condition after a ladder fall in Richmond.
He was taken to the Alfred Hospital in an induced coma after being reportedly found by his gardener.
Neighbours said Meldrum was the man injured in the accident, which happened at 6.40pm.
Meldrum's brother, Brian, said he was heading to the hospital.
He said he did not want to comment until he knew exactly how his brother was.
Meldrum is one of the biggest names in Australian rock.
As well as hosting Countdown he was a Hey Hey It's Saturday regular and was known to some of the biggest names in the music world.
Meldrum produced the song The Real Thing, a mega-hit for Australian star Russell Morris.
He is a prominent supporter of the St Kilda Football Club and the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League
