Moltzen returning?

Farah tweeted that Moltzen will be making a return soon. I doubt it will be for Storm clash but perhaps week after.

Before anyone says anything lets be honest, Moltzen is rocks and diamonds. Yes he had some shocking games but he has also had some outstanding performances.

Our backline has been utterly destroyed by injury. Bodene Thomson is a quality back rower...not a centre. So with this in mind Moltzen will be a great addition.

Seeing as we cant promote any more reserve graders, Perhaps this could work:

Moses
Lulia
Austin
Simona
Richards
Moltzen
Brooks
Ava (Galloway is apparently injured)
Farah
Woods
Siro
Bodene
Blair

Tupau
Sue
Halutau
Gavet

Thoughts?

I wouldn't swap Austin, he need to settle into a position.

For Moltzen, I am thinking FB & consider Moses in the centres for some speed.

Moltzen to centre would cause the least disruption.

Austin has put in the hard yards and deserves the #6 and having Moses at fullback means less defensive work for him and allows him to chime in anywhere in attack.

Another option could be to move Sironen to centre and put Moltzen at halfback to allow Brooks to rest his injured shoulder.

Yeah the more I think about it the more I like Moltzen in the centres. His defence isn't amazing but he has pace and a good passing game. He can find a hole aswell.

Considering we have few options in the centres i would play him there, hopefully he still has his pace and he does have decent ball skills, his defence is questionable at times but he is not alone there.Austin has earnt the right to be our 5/8 .

Was listening to a different NSW Cup game and word came through that Moltzen had redone his knee. Any confirmation?

As much as we bag him.. if he has done his knee again that's just heart breaking for the bloke. He has really put in so much of the field with rehab its cruel for it end like this. IF its true , is it the ACL again or the fractured Patella ? This is the career I feel is sadly in store for Teddy as well :(

Moltzen went down at one stage holding his knee. We thought - oh no, that's it. But he got up and played the rest of the game, though he was a bit gun shy after that. At one stage limping a little. I think it will be a while before he gets his confidence back (hardly shone in the game..although he is still quick)

You blokes/ladies are kidding if you think you can play this bloke in the centres. Absolute madness that will be met with 20-30 points down his side! Half back fullback or nothing. Surely we have some leftovers, isn't the mid season signing from the dogs a winger? He would have to be top tier replacing Koro?

I disagree. Bojangles in the centres is already leaking points. We don't seem to have the second tier cap space to promote from the NSW Cup and Lawrence will be out for a while. In the mean time at least Moltzen would be able to draw and pass, and has some pace to be an actual scoring threat. In addition, it seems that we are playing an up and in defence with Lulia continually coming in off his wing. If this continues, at least Moltzen has a chance of covering defence on the winger when the attack gets the ball outside of Lulia.

Austin as well for mine needs to stay at 5/8 and I would dread seeing Moltz at the back again. With Moses there he has been relatively safe under the high ball, runs it back better than Moltz and can be hidden in defence.

Moltz to right centre or nowhere and I think he is up against Lawrence if Lawrence is fit. I just can't see where else he can play. We already have a lot of quality players to fill fullback and the halves.

I've seen Moltzen kill it in the centres because he has a really good running game. Motzen would be a lot better bet compared to Thompson just due to the speed factor.

Didn't Moltzen slot into centre for his debut? I know he has played a couple of first grade games there. Anyway, he's a couple of weeks off a return to the top grade, by the sounds of it... so it's all pretty academic.

Moltzen should never be a centre. That expirement has been tried and failed emphatically a number of times.

Put him at 6 or not in the side at all.

I'd rather we let him get his confidence etc back in NSW Cup this year.

Siro should swap with Bojangles.

I can't believe people actually want Moltzen to play centre. You all must have very short memories.

I don't want him to be a centre. I just think that is our only weak position and therefore the only possible spot for him.
