Momentum is a strange thing... Here we are on the same number of competition points as Wests Tigers, and their coach is writing off their season, and we're just starting to see the glimmer of hope for ours?

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/07/11/1089484244302.html

"We're going to have to start working hard at looking at next season now," said Sheens after his side's fourth consecutive defeat. "What I'm looking at is a few changes to prepare ourselves for next year.

"Four weeks ago the wheels fell off and we're battling to put them back on at the moment. But there's some good signs among the young players. The odds of us making it now are very long. A month ago we were considering [finals] and maybe that's where things went wrong."

The Tigers do this every year (start well and finish crap), so I guess Sheens knows they aren't coming back.

I have no sympathy for the tigers. A few months ago they were tell us how great they were and how crap we are. All I can say is a few weeks is a very long time in footy. The look of the premiership ladder could look very different to what it is in 4 weeks. Hopefully we will be on 24pts 8)

Don't see too many Tigers fans turning up on the board anymore saying how great all their new signings are and how crap ours were.

It certainly aint over yet.

We play the Cowboys this week. We're one point behind them, with a bye in hand on them. A win this week will be a four pointer.

Newcastle are fading, we're 2 behind them.....again with a bye in hand, so effectively level with them.

If we get the money against the cowboys, we've got a huge game against melbourne. We can beat them, we matched them for 60 minutes at home before fading. That would be a massive 2 points down there, just huge.

Of course, we need to get past this week......

Pop quiz.....whose back three would you take, ours or our old one, now the tigers?

I'd take ours.

Newcastle aren't fading - they're faded!!! They've been gooone ever since Johns got injured, and they've been hanging in there with some tough flukey wins, but they just cannot put together a few wins in a row! Don't worry about them!

The Sharkies have a pretty tough run home, so do the Dragons and so do the Panthers (although the Panthers have so many wins that it'd take a Brisbane 2003 performance to see them miss out!)

Should be a good month, a couple of massive games the next two weeks could set us up for a thrilling run into a possible quarterfinal berth!

Cowboys at Dairy and Melbourne at Melbourne are tough.

But after last Saturday, anything is possible.

For sure. With Wade at the back doing so well now I don't think we lost all that much in Hodgson (and saved a bucketload of $$$ as well). Grothe and Burt on the wings (importantly Burt back where he belongs) will do well, and Tahu and Vealiki will return our centre pairing back to international standard once again.

How good was Patty Richards yesterday

I can see why Bolts Hadley crucified Smithy for letting him go.

Talk about dejavu.

I swear on the news I score patty come in....take no one and his opposite goes over untouched!

Possibly not, but Richards slide defence is shocking. It is eaither Hit or Slide, but unfortunately Pat has found himself somewhere in between on many occassions.

A good player when confident but ugly when not!!

That wasnt really Patty's fault in fairness. We were a man down and there was a huge overlap...

Maybe not on that instance, but I've seen that happen on to many occasions for it not to look a bit suss.

Dont remember seeing apt in the centres.

Never been the same since he did his knee. I was hopeful for him last season, thought he'd have a big one, but he never really got going.

A real shame, he was real good late 2000/early 2001.

He played one game last year in the centres - put Moodie over for a good try. Can't remember against whom though.
