Monaghan and Finch - where will they be this time next year?

They have become the two men who want to be halfbacks but have been moved to the hooking role. Diplomacy aside, they've been flipped off by their clubs for not being good enough pretty much. Before the start of Round 1 2006 they're carting the "looking forward to a new challenge" lines - Monaghan has even beefed up for the job - but this thread is a bit of a predictions thread asking where they will be in 12 months time.

Maybe they'll both go back to the Raiders? :lol:

Finch -----> Tigers
Monaghan -----> Souths

Finch and the Tigers would be a match made in heaven, IMO. ;-)

Coaches have still stuck with them in their starting 13, meaning they think they're better options than anyone else for the role.

Could be the start (or next step) or de-specialising the hooking roles? Just get the quick service from dummy half out to the playmaker, and that's your job. Maybe they could be very good at it, and be retained by their clubs next year...

Manly don't really have a recognised hooker so that is justified there.

But selecting Finch ahead of Wing? Obvious that they will swap Wing for Finch at some stage but wouldn't the Roosters be better served playing a specialist hooker off the bench and playing Finch in PL?

Monas is very safe ATM, where he'll be in 07 depends on the progress of Matt Ballin and Travis Burns.

They would. Wing can create so much for them and deserves 80 minutes game time in some position.

Beats me why they're doing it this way, maybe they think Wing is a bench specialist, has more of an impact when injected in a game?

If Caldwell, Reynolds, Oliver and Nowland all don't set the world on fire in PL for BRET/Magpies it is a possibility that Finch or Managhas could end up wearing a Wests Tigers jumper for 2 seasons

I'm have very high hopes for Caldwell this year and the future as I think he is the future of the Wests Tigers with Benji in the halves

Monaghan still isn't a certainty to be no. 9. The Manly daily said he was in the running for the 5/8 still so we'll see this afternoon.

Finch will be playing hooker for Cronulla, as the off season's biggest buy and believed to be the final piece in the jigsaw that will lead the Sharks to a Premiership.

Ever heard of a little thing called a contract? Monas is contracted to Manly and I'm pretty sure he has no get out clause any club that approaches Monas before July 1 the year his contract expires would be guilty of tampering.

In fairy land contracts are worth something. Unfortunately now days if a player is deemed surplus to requirements by their club they are generally shopped around to all and sundry. As it stands no one is talking about other clubs approaching Monaghan.......
